Just got my first shotgun Beretta Urika 2 in camo and ordered blued cantilever (rifled) barrel that should arrive in couple of weeks.
Now looking to get a nice scope for deer to go on the new barrel.
What would you suggest buying?
Thanks

how far are your slugs gonna fly? i'm guessing no more than 150yds. i'd look at something with a ring inside the crosshairs, like the Bushnell Circle-X reticles or the Redfield AccuRange or similar. or maybe the BoneCollector stuff if you're shooting slower slugs.

You'll need a 1-4x20mm Heavy Duplex Shotgun scope to take the recoil, and for close to med-range work.
Something compact that won't get hung up when hunting in brush or deep woods.
May I suggest a Leupold VI 1-4x20mm? I have one on the EE;)

With the fantastic ballistics of today's premium sabots you will likely be setting your scope up to shoot bullseye at 150yds. This makes 200 yd shots possible with only 6" of hold over. Not only do you need a good rest and practice to shoot these distances but you also need optics that allow you good shot placement as well. If you plan to shoot less than 100 yds magnification is less important but if you want to take advantage of the full potential of a good rifled barrel i suggest at least a 2-7x or a 3-9x specialized slug scope or a decent rifle scope. The bdc style reticles on the specialized slug scopes are a bonus and I believe most of the quality manufacturers produce one. Leupold, Burris, Nikon, and Bushnell all come to mind. Regardless of the distance that you want to be prepared to shoot confidently at, do not waste any money on a poor quality scope as the recoil will destroy it quickly.

Thanks a lot.
I decided on Leupold 3x9x40 UltimateSlam but the rifled barrel I ordered from Beretta is now on back-order so I guess I will wait for it to arrive first and then get the scope.

I just run a bushnell red dot on my 12ga. I've got it sighted in for turkey loads right now, hence we're in turkey season. But will sight it back in for slugs (challengers) when we get closer to deer season. I don't plan on taking a shot longer than 100 yards with this smooth bore barrel. I'd like to pick up a dedicated turkey gun, get another with a rifled barrel for sabot slugs and keep my current one for shooting trap with. Can never have enough shotguns :)

Thanks a lot.

That's a great choice, you can't go wrong with Leupold products.
I'm running an Eotech XPS on my Benelli M4 with great success. I occasionally use a 3X magnifier for shooting over 150M and because a use a flip mount I can go both long and short shooting.
