What is the best for the money shotgun scope? And where!
Want to keep it under 500$ as won’t hunt regularly.
Your opinion?

Some shotgun scopes could have the parallax set at 75 yards. Other than that, if you consider leupold, there is nothing inside a "shotgun" scope that makes it any tougher or better to handle recoil, they are all rugged. Other similarly branded shotgun and muzzleloader scopes would have drop reticles suited to slug or sabot ballistics.

Some factors that could affect your decision are, shooting distance, scope weight, illumination, scope size, eye relief etc

I use FxII-4x on rifle, muzzleloader and slug gun and don't feel limited on any. I also have a VX Freedom ultimate slam 3-9x40 muzzleloader scope with the drop reticle. Most folks I know use the 4x or 1-4x and kill lots of deer.

There's nothing wrong with a Bushnell banner or trophy 1.75x4 shotgun scope with the circle x reticle. Many years ago I compared one with the more expensive choices at a gun counter and actually preferred it. This was against higher end Bushnell etc up to the $350 mark. Since that time, it's bright and clear and keeps its zero on my shotgun/rifle combo. These go for150 or less. I have had several btw. And I don't cry if I scratch it.
Also, eye relief is good. Worked well enough to take out a crow at 75 yards with the rifle barrel. Of course you could also get a nice red dot if your shotgun offers that option for mounting.
To my eyes there was very little differences between the 1.25x4, 1.5x4 and 1.75x4 magnification at the lowest power setting. Seems to be more to do with marketing. So it worked ok for the occasional flying target.

I’ve had a VX2 1-4 mounted on my cantilevered slug barrel since 2011 and it works great. Most definitely a rifle scope but held up just fine to the shotgun. To be fair I only shot it for the initial site in and then once yearly to check zero and whenever it’s been fired in the field. It’s not like it’s my favourite shooting iron that i get out to the range with all the time.
