hey guys.
want to put a red dot on my 14" norinco shotty.
anybody know of a scope mount that will only mount on one side of the reciever? i've seen one sided mounts, but they seem to only go on the non ejecting side. i'd like to get one that mounts on the ejection port side so i can put a 4 rd side saddle on the other side.

i have a friend who works in a machine shop,... do you think i can buy the leupold scope mount that attaches to both sides of the reciever but cut one side off, then keep the side saddle to make up for the missing length for the screws?

Your best bet is to get the receiver drilled and tapped, and then put a piece of rail on the top. That will be one of the only ways you will get a sidesaddle AND scope mounted.

Mounting on the ejection side doesn't make a lot of sense, as the strongest part needs to be right over where the bolt is located.

I contacted Dlask about this for my 14" Norinco, and they quoted me about $60 for the rail and $40 for the install. You can do it yourselft pretty easy if you have access to a set of taps and save at least the $40. Rail can be bought in bulk lengths from Brownells in the states.

i can't seem to find the bulk lengths of weaver rails on the brownell's site...can you forward me a link?
would my idea of cutting the rail adapter work? or do you think it would be dangerous at all?
cause i don't see why it would be different from the one sided mount i've seen by tasco. but tasco mounts it on the side i don't want it on.
