This has been probably been debated before many times , but I'm new around here and want to see what people think of when it comes to scopes for shotguns.

I have a mossberg 500 and it came with a rifled barrel with a scope mount , I have been looking around and have not really found many shotgun specific scope except for a couple but they seem to be on the higher end of the price scale , now I don't mind spending money on quality , but since I'm new to hunting I want to make the best choice that I can.

Any help is welcomed !!

I agree, the slughunter is the one to get. If your looking for something under $200 the prostaff 2-7 or bushnell xlt 1.75-4 will work fine. I've been using the prostaff for years with no issues, just waiting for a deal on the slughunter I can't pass up.

An alternative that has worked well for a lot of people is the Aimpoint T1 or T2.

Dr Gary Roberts recommends them for certain applications:

They are fairly expensive, but very durable.

I went a similar route and mounted a Vortex Sparc II. Works great, and quite a bit cheaper than the Aimpoint.

Thanks,
Cal.
