Shotgun Shells Questoin

Hello everyone. I have been shooting for about 2 years, but I am still new to reloading (just getting into it in fact). I don't have reloading equipment for shotgun shells, and I was wondering if could sell them. I have about 450 spent shells. I believe they are federal, top gun, target loads, 7 1/2, 2 3/4''.

I guess my question is, if I post 450 shells for sale in EE forum how much should I even ask for?

Don't think anyone will buy someone else's reloaded ammunition. Not sure on the legality as you are not a licenced producer of ammo. I'm sure u could sell it to a friend tho, as long as he trusts that you didnt make an error with max charges

They arn't reloaded, he is saying he has 450 empty hulls and is asking for a price.

Oh sorry about the confusion, I'm just trying to sell the empty shotgun shells. I know there is a huge market for brass as me and my buddy reload .308 but I wasn't sure if anyone would buy spent shotgun shells.

I have 450 or so (since I clean up after myself at the range :cheers:) and if there is no market for them I will just toss in the trash.

Doh! That's what I get for reading on a cell phone ... Missed the "don't" part in the "i have equipment" part....

Back on topic.... The federal top gun shells have a paper base wad insert in them and most people and manuals dont recommend you reload these. They maybe good for 1 reload or more, but then you risk the base wad separating from the shell, getting stuck in the barrel and causing excessive pressure which may cause the barrel to burst.....

I don't reload them, but others might
 
hmmm... I don't want to put anyone in danger or anything, just wondering if I could make some money back on the spent shells. Any ideas on what a fair price for 450 spent shells would be? I was thinking like 40 bucks or so??

Either way, if you say that most GunNnutz don't reload Federal Top Gun I might just toss em anyway. Still not sure.
 
make an EE ad (maybe add the paper base wad disclosure), worst that can happen is no one buys, drop it by a few bucks each week as you BTT the ad

I see people selling better quality shells for up to 10 cents each, so who knows, maybe someone wants the 450 top gun shells for $40
 
Top of the line empties like AAs and Rem. Premier draw .06 or .07 cents each, so value of those is prolly half that.
 
I don't think there is much market for Top Gun hulls. You can get them by the thousands for free in the hull buckets of any gun club. Some people might load them but I am not one of those people. Even those that who do aren't likely to pay for them.

The garbage bin at our range is full of them.
