I’m trying to install a fibre optic front sight on a vent rib barrel. The old sight was damaged. I’ve got the new sight and it’s the correct thread but when it gets tight it’s cross way on the barrel. I don’t want to torque it as I’m afraid it will break off and I’ll have another problem. What would be the correct way to “time” the sight? I was thinking either a thin shim under it or filing the bottom of the threaded portion until it lines up. Looking for input.

If your screw is bottoming out in the hole you could file a little bit off the bottom at a time and set it further down
