Shotgun Slugs

Started to re-use dirty plates for more ammo change. Blueberry pie on the left and peach cobbler on right.

My cheap ways haven't affected accuracy much at the 50 yard line, evidently.

Make poor mans slugs

Elaborate?

I think he might be referring to "cut-shells". This is where you cut almost completely through the plastic shell just ahead of the brass so that when you fire, instead of the crimp opening up, the entire front end of the shell becomes the projectile.

Do I really have to add... "Don't try this at home"?

I think I heard that this first started down in the south during the first depression. They couldn't afford slugs or a proper rifle for hunting bigger game and this was their solution.

You know what they say... "Necessity is the mother of dumb-ass rednecks..." or something like that anyway.... :D

For the same reason very short range birdshot hits cause shallow but horrific wounds I don't think that would really even work all that well. Not to mention how extremely stupid you would have to be to attempt it.

that was done a lot down east for poaching in the off season,(Not from experience of course), all thoughI did try a couple of rounds through my buddy's 12

BTW - I've woken up to a burglar in my house when I lived in Vancouver before I was a gun owner and it is not something I'd wish upon anyone . Very s**tty deal that I fortunately came out on top of that time.

Care to tell the story behind that one?

Wax in the shot almost makes a breecher round. I believe it is was and powdered lead that the original dedicated breacher rounds were made of.

I have heard of some dudes putting wax in the shot to create a solid mass.

I've tried it. It works; but not very consistently. Most often (in my experience) breaking-up into chunks as it leaves the muzzle.
Still better than "ring-shot" which can leave large debris in the barrel.
