shotgun that feeds from a removeable box magazine

I must say that I've been searching relentlessly every thread that I can find here trying to determine whether the 12.5" Grizzly, and the Valtro PM5 are the only mag-fed shotties available in Canada (sorry Rob MacN - the Valtro is a pump as well ).

The Saiga-12 is box mag-fed as well (I think), but not available in Canada?

Are there any others that you guys are aware of? Like Rob MacN, I'd love to find a box mag-fed semi, but I would be interested in models other than the Grizzly (still struggling with the thought that purchasing a Grizzly would be helping to finance a Communist regime with a dismal human rights record (or is that both too far off-topic, and a statement of the obvious? ).

(The write-ups on the Grizzly have been fantastically informative and interesting - thanks everyone. I'm sorely tempted, I must say... ).

mossberg had a mag conversion out for a bit but i think its discontinued.

2 things come to mind when i compair my valtro to the griz...

valtro mag's are $100ea an hold 7rnd's, griz are like $40? and hold 5 making the extra 2 round's a bit pricy.

i want to add a knoxx stock to my valtro, i will have to buy a 870 knoxx stock and have my gunsmith modify it to fit the valtro as opposed to just bolting it straight up to the grizz and while its in the shop i will no doubt also have him figure out how to put a rail on the top for an optic BUT if i would have bought a griz all this stuff is as easy to get as bling for a honda and installs with some basic tools....

when you consider a valtro costs around the $700 mark new with 1 mag the choice gets easier for most.... but i must say i LOVE my PM5, its got a crisp smooth action and has yet to give me any grief... and i hate honda's :p ... i will stick with my valtro thanks :D

The BAIKAL Izh-81. With selective magazine. With flick of switch you can load your chamber from the detechable mag or from the tubular mag.

Thanks guys. I had a Valtro, but the length of the action was at the limit of my wingspan - I'll have to pay more attention to that. Obviously not an issue with the Griz.

Tozman - thanks, that's a pretty nifty arrangement. Does that allow the cumulative capacity of the tubular mag and the box mag? That would be fantastic capacity! :)

That's too bad about the Mossburg mod not being available anymore. I'm not shotgun expert (obviously!), but from what I've read, Mossburg seems to be a fairly highly regarded manufacturer...

I love my Valtro , zero problems and the action is slick. Also Valtro's are made in the Valtropia vally, Italy and they have been making firearms since the 15th century. They are well know in europe. The handguns are fetching $5000-$10,000. I heard that Valtro USA will no longer sell PM5's to civilians, military and LE personal only.

Does anyone have any history on Valtro firearms?

mines actually a Molot Vepr 12 .. i think Molot is a branch of saiga.. but they do the top end models.. alot nicer, better fit and finish, better quality.

the saiga 12's are reasonably cool but they lack in some respects.. no bolt hold open on empty is one sucky feature. i'll tell you that much for free

Molot (Vepr) of Vyatskie Polyany, is a different factory than Izhmash (Saiga) of Izhevsk. Molot made the PPsH back in the day. The main difference is the Molot is heavier, being built on an RPK action/trunnion.

does anyone make a 12 guage that feeds from a removeable box magazine.

something that would be legan and unrestricted

thanks in advance

this is your first post. now do you see it say a-u-t-o-l-o-a-d-e-r- anywhere, no you dont so stop being so rude and appreciat the fact that people are trying to help you in your quest:mad:

now i know its not an auto but you can get a sidewinder kit for a mossy 500 and have a 10 round drum or a six round box magazine, just an idea

Quoting myself, I was wondering if there's a legal limit on the number of shells that a shotgun mag can hold. If the limit is seven, then the Valtro PM5 is a no-no (so I doubt that's the case).
