Shotgun vest / chest rig thread

I'm looking at the SOE micro also, if I chose to build my own which do you guys think is better?

Condor shotgun reload pouch

The condor allows alot of shells, but the rack style is very low profile and I like how the shells won't move around.

I use all Condor stuff with my rig, but decided against that drop down reload pouch because I just didn't like the idea of an unfolding pouch that I had to reach for.
Besides, I have a vest, so ammo pouches and 12 x shell holders were an option to me.

TAG and Condor are worlds apart in quality. If you like the design of the Condor then just look a little harder for the company that actually designed it and you'll get a product that will last you a lot longer. The very bottom of the heap in terms of build quality. Originally their stuff was produced (and priced accordingly) for the airsoft crowd. I know alot of guys here use Condor for the price point and if you aren't invading Iraq it'll suit your needs, but there are other companies (Tactical Tailor/Maxpedition/HSGI to name a few) out there who produce gear that won't break your bank, don't rip off other companies designs, and offer a good product/customer service.

Yeah, Im not invading Iraq and it sees low amount of use compared to others. Slam my choice in gear all you want, if thats how you roll. Im not trying to be a special forces professional impersonator or competitor, so Condor does just fine for my weekend warrior needs.

That TAG pouch will suit you if that is the style you are looking for. Ebay also has a few different USGI pouches, Eagle Industries, etc...Our own S&J Hardware makes a pretty nice one if you like the velcro cards.

What are you using for a vest?

That's not my intention. When I say airsoft, I was quite serious and not trying to say that using this stuff makes you some kind of wannabe. I'm just trying to enlighten the OP as he probably doesn't know the difference in build quality. I'm not going to hate on someone because of the gear they choose. Just trying to share some knowledge.

Well I am the OP, and do notice the difference. I know about the airsoft aspect, and also know firearm retailers who sell it as a lower tier option. I also know of shooters who use the brand with no complaints. It's fair quality, triple stitched and not just some cheap easily breakable product. Like I said, I don't need the very top level of gear for my level of use or needs. Just something light and nimble to haul rifle and shotgun ammo around in easily.

Yeah, I meant the guy asking about the TAG pouch vs the Condor.

I find elastic loop rigs of any kind to be easily managed and secure but slow, both to load from and to replenish.

I prefer my leather loop and compartmented pouch combo as it gives me both speed as well as lots of capacity too if needed.

I've heard of condors rep, and I also have a few of their stuff. I don't mind it, this stuff is just for fun and isn't used very often. If I'm bringing it to work then that's another story.

This rig is the best looking and may be the most functional for me

Not sure if I should build my own or go with the micro.

Well you could always go with the OSOE micro rig platform only (no pouches just PALS webbing), and build it up from there.

I started with an old mess tin pouch, then added California Competition Works Shell Caddys (still have them for warm weather), played around with a couple of Condor Shotgun Reload Pouches (no problem if you are static, but don't try to manoeuvre with them) then tried a CP Gear bandolier with a C9 drum pouch and Snap dragon pouches (I still use it as a second line type ammo carrier, but it was discontinued by Wheelers, sadly), finally settled on the OSOE Micro Rig.

I have modified my micro rig to hold 77 rounds, a cleaning kit, spare parts and misc accessories so that it is solely dedicated to the care and feeding of my Benelli. All I need to grab is my shotgun and micro rig and I have 90 rounds (69 buck/21 slug) on the LOD.

Get a micro rig.

I'm tempted by the OSOE H harness for it, anyone have experience ?
