Hello,
A friend of mine, (an older man) now has a harder time to shoot more than a dozen shots of 12ga. due to the heavy recoil. He is serioulsy thinking about getting a 20GA, unless someone here could suggest a semi 12 GA with less recoil..... more "friendly" to older folks.
Thanks:)

1100 Remington.
I however, use a VERY heavy 12 gauge with a recoil reducer, limbsaver recoil pad, and long forcing cones.
I have it for one thing only mind you, and that is geese, and not all the time.
When I shoot trap I revert to my father's 1100 with light 7/8oz loads.....

That's the ticket for reduced recoil. Add some weight to the gun and reduce the weight of the loads. I've really taken to the 7/8 ounce loads in my 391.

The 20 gauge 1100 is lighter than the 12 gauge and with 7/8 ounce target loads has more felt recoil than the heaver 12 gauge.

You have several options:

Get a gas operate shotgun and put on a limbsaver pad.

Get a knoxx opps stock (limits to certain brand / model shotgun

Have your barrel ported.

Or all of the above if you can find one manufacturer's model available for the knoxx opps stock.

The knoxx stock might be a little too tactical look for hunting (pistol grip matt black etc) but it works great.

What about buy a gas operate shotgun and install a Knoxx Opps stock on it. Then port the barrel and shoot it with limbsaver pad on?:runaway:

hahah............:agree: and that's what I mean, may be the felt recoil will reduce to .410 bird shot level............

Forgot to add: have the barrel backbored: By open up the entire barrel I.D. the recoil should reduce by fair a bit!

ya if a duck spot's that pistol grip it would likely call the cop's and report you as a terrorist.

all jokes aside the knoxx stock's work damn good... a Knoxx stock and a vest with a sewn in PAST recoil pad would be the ticket for a sensitive shoulder... and you can adjust the length of pull to maximize comfort with the PAST pad.
