Shotguns and red dots

Red dot are great for shot patterns as well, I have one on a 12g and I shot a bunch of grouse this year with it. I have a full choke and set it up with #7.5 birdshot so that the bottom quarter or third of the shot pattern hits where the red dot is out to 25 yards. If I have to shoot grouse past 25y I aim a bit higher but I’m picking some pellets out of the meat instead of head shooting them at 25y and under, the gun has a 14” barrel with no front sight on it so the red dot was the easiest way to adjust for the high point of impact due to the short barrel. I’m using a trs-25 as well, it’s held up great with any 12g load I’ve shot and this is the second 12g shotgun I’ve had it on.

I’m going to try it!
