Shotguns for 'yotes

My last coyote fell to both barrels of 1oz #6 copper plated shot from a 2.5" chambered husqvarna 20 hammer gun. First shot to the face at about 35 yards second barrel to his chest broadside. He made about a 150 yard dash acrossed the field and died climbing the fence

Most of the coyotes I have shot with a shotgun have been incidental while hunting birds. #5 or 6 shot is not very humane or quick but it does kill them OK if they are close enough. The last one I got picked a fight with my Pudelpointer and I put and end to it with a 1-1/4 oz load of Bismuth #4's from my muzzle loader 12 ga. Dog was crippled for a couple weeks with a leg twist injury, kinda took the shine off of that hunt for me. Glad I got the coyote anyway!

:) PM on the way as we speak.

They say my new beretta a400 can shoot 4 times a second. Maybe someday a coyote will get to see a wall of buck shot coming his way lol. Just have to find a proper choke. Not much choices for beretta opitma hp chokes

They are Wiley here in BC. Getting them in shotgun range is more of a luck thing. Last one for me was a running 180 yard shot with a hot loaded 480gr 45/70. You can call them for a couple months in the winter, but I bet you would have a hard time the rest of the year.

Got this one a few years ago. Likely 10 yard shot in thick cedars. Browning maxus, 3" #4 buck. Flattened him on the spot.

Les Johnson of Predator Quest knocks down quite a few with the shotgun. It would be my choice for denser brush areas and short sight lines, but he does it in the wide open spaces of the midwest. Just call em closer!

Doesn't he just!

Well folks, after having the Burris off the Supernova on the 9.3 for a while, I've now got it back and read for some slug slinging / buckshot hurling!

Scrummy
