Hey all,

Just checking to see what my options are shot shell caddies for 3gun? How many shells should I have to carry for a round? Where can I buy these caddies? I signed up for my first 3 gun match in 3 weeks and realized I have nothing to hold shotshells or ar mags.

Same goes for AR mags, how many mag pouches will I need? Where can I buy some that are in stock? Doubletap has some stuff I see but it's all sold out.

Last question, is there any limitation to putting the mag pouches infront of the hipbone? In IPSC this is not allowed.

Thanks for the help guys!

As far as placement you can set them gear where you like. For the match your talking about I carry 2 ar mags and 12 shotgun shells.
Select shooting supplies carries some good options. What's your squad time for the match?

Ok thats not too bad. I see some people carrying chest plates and tons of mags. I didn't want to overbuy. My timeslot is 2:30 on the Saturday. Thanks for mentioning Select shooting supplies. I wasn't aware of them.

Look at Invictus Practical caddies. Try to have at least 24 rounds on you if not more.

AR mags same thing, I have 3 pouches with double LAR mags so 60 rounds total. It all depends how often you miss really. LOL.

There's no hip rule as the rules are a bit loose in Canada as most matches are not sanctioned 3GN matches anyway.

Thanks Chalk, I might hit you up as never having done it, I don't wanna buy something that I realize is garbage after my first round.

Mebiuspower. Thanks for giving me a brand name to look at. Those caddies seem quite a bit different then the ones I was looking at. I already have 2 LAR mags and 3 beuwolf mags, I guess I should look at getting 6 double mag holders. God this is expensive.

If you don't miss this hobby is cheaper. You don't need as much gear and you save on ammo. Pro Tip from a far-from-pro shooter.

Yeah I'll try not to miss but this is all new to me so I am bound to miss once or twice. Thanks again for the responses. I will keep it simple and go from there after I have shoot a match.

Also check out Carbon Arms Pinwheel for shell caddies. I moved from Invictus to CA last year and absolutely love the Pinwheels.
Nothing wrong with the Invictus at all, I just prefer the CA. I use the load 2 method and the CA really seems to hold the shells well when running around.
I purchased from Brownells in the States as nobody in Canada had them in stock when I was looking. Not cheap but IMO worth the money.

Yeah I have seen those around and they are more expensive by $20. Just seems crazy that these little pieces cost so much. I will see if anybody in Canada has these in stock.

The Carbon arms are out of stock it seems. Seems like more people prefer them when reading reviews on the web.

Thanks ffgats, I will look into those as well.

Carbon arms tension changes more drastically with temperature changes vs Invictus.
Might not matter to most people (or they may not notice), but for myself, I need as much consistency in my gear as possible so all I have to worry about is executing my stage plan.

My preference is Invictus, and besides what I mentioned above, I feel they are just a better quality product.

Maybe borrow some gear for your first match, then while there see what others are using and ask why.
You can make your purchase decisions with some point of reference vs just what random people on the internet have suggested.

Most 3 gunners love talking about their gear.
They are almost as annoying as Crossfiters and vegans in that regard.

I'd recommend borrowing and observing and asking lots of questions for what is left of the 3gun season this year. Then you have all winter to find the right deals on gear.

This is great advice. You can spend a fortune trying to figure out what you like and don't.

Also....lol. pauls... I don't know any crossfiters or vegans but I do love to talk gear.

Thanks for the analogy Pauls. I think it's great advice as I am sitting here going do I need the 8,10,12,16 or the chest ones that go up to 24. If it was $40 it would be different but with the teklok's and the caddies, it's not cheap.

I should see what people are using, see if I can test it out and see what I like best and go from there.

lol lets talk gear. Why are these parts so expensive? How are the ghost ones? I see them for $30. I also see TacCom caddies for half the price.
