Any thoughts on shotshell powder changing core density and felt recoil Green Dot and 700X come to mind with 17 to 20 Grain range with 12 gauge trap loads. Anyone getting results with different powder choices?

Promo reddot and 700x all pattern about the same with any loads I've tried thru various guns and chokes all using claybuster wads
Plastic wads give a more dense core than my fibre wad loads.

Powder burning rates have absolutely nothing to do with recoil, science proved this years ago but reloaders seem to still ignore the results. So far as patterns go, each change in your load should be followed by a trip to the pattern board. Different speed loads hit the forcing and choke with different force, and these can make a difference in the patterns your gun will throw. Once you have a found a load choke combo that works for your gun at the distance you are shooting, stick with it.

You miss read my post. Some powders will shoot tighter core density than others that is a fact Green Dot comes to mind. Not talking about chokes or barrel mods .

Green dot has been a long time favorite for handicap trap 1 1/8 ounce loads. Many who shoot green dot say recoil is felt more like a push rather than a punch. Green dot is best fired during warm temperature days........not a good choice for Canadian winter shooting..........All this from personal observations only.

Is this about a rifle-like bullet effect or about a reliable shot spread? One is favoured by those who are more usually rifle shooters and the other by wing shooters.
