Should a 1911A1 lock open on empty?

It might be interesting to disassemble your mags (keeping the parts organised) and try the springs/followers in different combinations. You might be able to narrow down the problem if it is in the mag.

I noticed today while testing my Norinco 1911A1 clone, that after firing the last round, the slide travels home. Shouldn't the slide lock open on an empty mag?

I'm trying to recall if it ever did, but honestly never really paid attention to that until today. I wonder if my refinishing job (Armacoat) has caused this.

its either the mag or the slide stop. guaranteed!

Also a good idea to clean out the mags and lightly oil them if you haven't already and maybe work the follower in and out to smooth out any roughness...

better mags will fix it

I just got some cobra mags for mine, and it locks it SO SOLID that I can not push the slide lock down with an empty mag in for all my strength!

Where does a huy find mags like that? There isn't a while lot of stuff like this available in the prairies.
