At the risk of being boring I will comment on the poll.

It seems sensible for a sport (IPSC or IDPA) to use a measure of its resources to support a climate in their host country where their sport can continue to exist. So, if you like dog sledding (practical shooting) you might assume your dog sled organization (IPSC) will be advocating occasionally to keep dog sledding legal. If there is a dog sledding advocacy group (CSSA), maybe it is easier for your sport organization (IPSC) to simply support the advocacy group (CSSA) through financial contributions. This frees the sport organization (IPSC) to concentrate its activity on the sport and still commit a fraction of its resources to advocacy (CSSA).

The only politics in this example is targeted narrowly at maintaining free access to the sport, not farther reaching ideologies.

Access to the sport is actually the second half of the poll.

If we do not have guns...then the sport is doomed. Thus to me it would make sense to be more politically active.

Mind you Airsoft may be their long term plan in that case.

I love shooting IPSC and IDPA.

I voted that IPSC should just stay out of politics. Politics will tarnish IPSC and IDPA when it gets its evil clutches on them!

Therefore, in my humble opinion, politics should stay away from our beloved Action Sports!

Must be a way to shelter the action sports from being the center of any politics while we are trying to keep our guns.

Let's go the self defense route like in the US. Did I say that?

How do you define "Dictatorship?"

The only practical - and objective - method would be to use rankings from Freedom House (http://www.freedomhouse.org/template.cfm?page=1), setting a threshold below which one would consider a place to be a dictatorship.

Having said that, I agree with you - sporting organizations should not be involved in politics at this level. They should focus on growing the sport, at most tossing some money to political organizations that will grow the boundaries and thereby protect the sport.

...not that I want to drift this thread into anything useful (sorry Storm) but what is the idea behind the "vendors" area? The forum is for members only...so many of the vendors will never be on the site

Looks good though. Let's hope it gets some use...

Feel free to ask that over there.

I don't have the energy to explain the nuances of the English language to you. If you don't get it, you don't get it, but you can try by looking up the word idiom.

I wasn't asking you about the idiom, but what you're referring to with that idiom, but you choose a rude reply instead of explaining your comment.

In that case you can learn all you need to learn from your local guys. You don't need the world body and you don't need the GV or other information from outside Canada. You should spend more time with the experts here who share you view that IPSC is broken, corrupt etc.

Is it just me, or you actually insulted all Canadians, including those like Slavex who travel all around the world and compete at the international matches? Should I also remind you that one of those local guys currently runs IPSC world body?

Ironically, you didn't even tried to read what I said. I was referring to Canada and the sport is driven by the people making matches happen all around the world.

As for GV, that site is no use to all banned members (because this is the only argument your friend Vince is capable of when he loses a point at a regular discussion). This is also ironic given that the site is intended to be THE main resource where one learn anything about IPSC. Well, luckily it is actually not the only resource.
