Should I be concerned?

So I just mounted my Nightforce SHV 5-20X56 scope on my Tikka T3X Varment in 300wm. I used Warne Tikka mounts in high mounted directly to my receiver. The bell touches the barrel very slightly in one spot, about the thickness of a piece of paper, and not the whole length. Should I be concerned and get higher rings or a rail with different rings? Or should I just shoot the flucker?

If it's touching the barrel, harmonics/vibration from the shot may cause damage to your very nice optic.

Thanks guys. Appreciate it. Hates to send the rings back but I guess I could always buy a new 30mm scope for my other Tikka in 223. Lol.

Any recommendations for a set of good rings for the 300?

i am a big fan of leupold prw rings, with a good rail..... atrs or near.

but frankly all that is overkill..... just get a great set of tally lightweights and call it a day.

Before you get new rings, consider mounting the scope on 20MOA rail. It'll raise the scope up off the barrel, and give you more usable "come-ups" for longer distance shooting. That is, if your rings will work on a rail set up.

Unfortunately they won't work with a rail set up. Made for Tikka to mount directly to receiver.

Notebook paper is about .0015", I would try adding some friction tape
to the inside of the rings. The 3M tape i measured was .007" when compressed.

After seeing videos of solid mounted scopes flapping around in slo mo i want to see daylight under my scope bell not a feeler gauge worth. You need higher rings

No joy with the tape. I guess another set of high rings along with a rail are in my future. The rail should give me the extra clearance needed. Thanks for the advice/ideas.

Cheers
