Should I be worried? (PAL application)

Ive been trying to find cases where PALs were denied, and im not coming up with many threads (which I guess points to a good sign of high success rates).

But I am just wondering what sort of circumstances would have someone denied?

I havent done anything wrong, but to be truthful on my application I did have to check the box about "depression, mental illness, PTSD etc" as I was diagnosed with depression within the last 5 years.

I have seen help for the last year, and everything is under control and I am 100% stable. Not on pills or anything.

Only reason I ask, was because recently my trip to the MTO to attempt to take my Class "F" for my Paramedic course required me to check this box as well... and now I am waiting for it to reviewed and will hear back in 2-3 weeks on if I am capable of driving an ambulance.

EDIT: anyone reading this, I was able to get PAL no problem. Took a little longer as they had to call the doctor to verify I was in good standing order, but all is well.

I could see the CFC asking you questions since you where honest and checked off the box saying yes. I am sure with your explanation on how you had PTSD and that you had sought and recieved treatment for it should not hinder your application in my opinion.
I am wondering though if the MTO even know that most of the Medics that have an F class licence have more than likely suffered from PTSD at leaset once if not more than that at some point in their career, and if the MTO are giving you a hard time to get the licence to go to school what are they going to do to the Medics working on the road as we speak? Good Luck and keep us posted on your status.

First bonus is, you were honest on your application. I know one person who also acknowledged PTSD in their application and I was listed on the application as a character refrence... They did call me and they asked very simple to the point questions, without ever mentioning or eluding to my friends illness(but i was well aware of it anyways). I had nothing but positive factual information to give them and all was good.... They did not contact the applicant at any time in this process though.. They were unaware that queries were being made until I mentioned it to them. If you have a handle on everything and your references can attest to this fact, then you'll likely be golden. If you want to be proactive, have your references call in for their phone interviews right away.... I hope this helps a bit, we all know what it feels like to be waiting for our PAL's to be processed.

Should I be worried?

So I sent my application in for my pal and rpal on may 18th and I still haven't gotten a response from them....and they haven't charged me yet what should I do just wait it out or call them? If I call I don't want them to think that I'm in such a rush...any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Kevin

Well there's the 28 day "cooling off period" but you can go to the website and see if your appliaction has been received and is in process... Did you send it registered letter? If its in process then contact them and inform them that you are going to have your references call in as soon as possible... They won't think you are a nut job for trying to quicken the process... This happens hundreds of times a day....

here's the link to the page....

Thanks for the replies. Great to hear someone with the same situation was able to get theirs. Takes a load off my shoulders... now the only thing to worry about is the MTO and their accepting me to take my Class F :p.

I understand it is the government... was apart of it with the military, and it has to be "by the books". But it makes no sense. Nothing ever did when I was in (one of the big contributing factors of me not re-signing), and it still doesnt even as a civilian.
*This is in reference to the MTO, not the PAL.... I agree with the PAL :p lol

Sorry I can't add any insightful information on your situation.

But seeing as how your in the Paramedic program (Good luck in your studies BTW)

Tema Conter Memorial Trust was set up to help with PTSD and they also offer scholarships (hey, every penny helps)

If you didn't sign a peice of paper explaining why you checked the box off they send you a letter asking for details. I asked if I could give it over the phone I was told no and the lady was very rude about it as well which is suprizing as most cfos that you speak with are in a good mood. I sent a letter which was also a complaint back signed and dated it back and this was for a renewal. I didn't like they way the lady talked to me and just transfered me to another person to get ride of faster basicly hung up.
