Should I buy a CZ-75 SP-01?

Any other differences between the two models? I read somewhere that it's harder to do a trigger on the decoker model.
 
By the way, does anyone have experience with both, the SP-01 to Sig P226ST? I'd be very curious to see how the two compare.
 
no, the only diff is the decocker and the slide markings. The difference in the trigger in SA/DA is unremarkable. The SP-01 "safety" can engage a "cocked and locked" position... that's about the only difference.

I have the Sig but no experiance with SP-01. While they both weigh about 42oz (~same as 1911) I would imagine CZ would be more muzzle heavy because of all the weight added around the dustcover (7 oz more than regular CZ75) so it may have less flip, My steel Sig is pretty soft shooting, maybe even too soft...I don't mind recoil and tend to load my ammo hot, so I think I'd find the CZ a little boring to shoot...
 
I have the CZ 75b in 9mm right now, have had it for years. They now have this gun in stainless, and it looks great. When they bring the stainless version out in 40 cal, I'm going to get that as well. Excellent guns.

While I don't have the SP-01 model, a couple of my friends do, and they love them.
 
Havent read all the other posts. But if your still thinking about buying a CZ SP-01, get the Shadow !! I got myself a CZ SP-01 Shadow and its nothing short then fantastic. The Shadow has better sights, better controls ( slide releade, ambi safeties ). The shadow also has extra work done on the trigger pull as well as getting a better hammer. Be careful though. I've had a guy order what he was told to be a CZ SP-01 Shadow but he got a standard SP-01 with the upgraded sights. The dealer told him that CZ makes Shadows that don't say Shadow on the pistol itself.... bs. The pistol didnt have the same extended controls or the better hammer which also would be safe to say it didnt have the trigger work done. So if you order a CZ Shadow, make sure it says Shadow on the pistol and that it has all the parts a Shadow should have. I couldnt beleive a dealer sold a CZ-SP01 to someone who was paying extra for the Shadow and told the customer that it was a Shadow however CZ didn't engrave Shadow on the slide.... I think he kept it anyways but I know I would have been extremely pissed off. There's more to a Shadow version then its upgraded sights.

Anyways, BUY IT!!! its a great gun! I would recommend going through CFRM or Wolverine. I cant remember the name of the dealer that was selling "fake" Shadows but just be careful and make sure before its shippef to you that it says Shadow on the slide and that it has the Shadow Hammer and safety controls etc...

Tactical has better sights. For me, it is hard to align the fibreoptic
dot with the rear sight. Even when I do, it shoots 2" too high.

Also, Shadow is not for people who are used to stronger triggers.
A very light touch of the trigger sets this gun off. Not very practical
gun. Maybe good for IPSC "speed" competitions, but not very practical
for other applications.

Tactical was designed for carry, military and SWAT work.
Shadow is a cute gun, but would I want to carry one if I could.
No! Tactical would be my pick.

It all depends what you want to train your hands for.
One can get used to either gun.

A good / safe shooter can pick up any gun and use it safely, 3lbs is not too light (IMHumbleO)
 
The mainspring in the Shadow (as it comes in the box) is not light. Anyone own both, I have heard the trigger pull is similiar.
 
I was informed that at the factory, more attention is payed to the trigger and sear on the Shadows with polishing etc...

aF_Newbie - I guess you make a good point. I personaly am not in law enforcement so the pistol would be strickly used as a target pistol and in fact IPSC competition once I feel confident enough. I personaly love the sights on the Shadow, with the right ammo, i find it hard to miss !! My prediction is that if I was to shoot the Tactical, I would probably shoot 2" low ;) I also dont find the trigger pull to be too light, as long as you have a firm grip i dont see there being any sloppy double fires.

In the end though, we can all agree that all CZ-SP01's are fantastic pistols. They obviously made different models for a reason. Poeple have different tastes.

There is no firing pin block on the Shadow's, which reduces trigger pull, and improves trigger travel properties as well. It also comes with a lighter recoil spring right from the factory. You can go to the website and check it out for yourself. You will not regret getting one, if you do. Cheers
