Should I buy a Knoxx Specops stock for my 870?

Not that keen on the power pack, find the stuff adds weight, stiff to insert shells and pull them out, and the cheek piece is only good with optics.

I would have liked to have seen a review on the knoxx comstock....basically he gives a thumbs down to the knoxx pistol grip full stock. Nice review,...anyone have a review of the knoxx pistol grip- aka breachers grip.

Nothing screams "I can't handle 12guage" like a Knoxx stock.
If you want an AR type many options available.
Will end up looking better too!

Slightly biased .. but a traditional speedfeed or hogue would be better options.

I believe Hogue actually makes them for KNoxx/blackhawk....

I found shooting my 14" HP9 with magnum slugs was a little too brutal. Especially at an IPSC match.

The face smack is an issue I've seen with my Knoxx prior to selling. Mesa Leo with Enidine buffer for me. Pricy, but solid, and consistent.

I had the spec ops knoxx stock for my 870 about a year ago And I Hated it. I found that when ever I tried to hold a check Weld on the stock the recoil would slam the stock against my cheek bone causing it to be very painful. I tried to adjust it to different lengths but the same problem happend. *it's not the end of the receiver that hits my cheek but the top of the stock.* I also had a problem as the shotgun recoiled my hand would half pull back the pump of my 870 and cause it to only half cycle. Maybe that was that was just me but ever since I sold it and now am using a Mesa tactical adapter and magpul M4 style stock I could not be happier. The Knoxx stock is very large as well. Personally I don't find it a problem to shoot slugs or 00 buck. But I guess it's all what your use too.

Just my personal thoughts

ya im a biggish guy and dont worry about recoil, kind of like it, im not going to go shoot 100 slugs in a row anyways.

anyone have a shurshot on their 870? i heard the accuracy is unreal

I shoot 20-30 slugs at a go, no way I would do that with a traditional stock. The knoxx is not perfect, but I accept the tradeoff for the reduced recoil. It took years to reduce the flinch i aqquired shooting mag 3" slugs from my 500 with standard stock.

I agree, the MESA LEO is worth the cash. I honestly prefer just the factory express stock myself on my 18.5" (less springs and moving parts to fail), but If I ever were to build a 14" or 12.5" it would be with that MESA LEO

The SpecOps is flexy in the rear and does buck a bit if you are trying to get a low cheek weld.
It works better with optics or at least taller sights then a standard bead.

Check The Shooting Edge in Calgary/ Theyre sponsored here too. I saw recently they had lots in stock- even different colors. They got the power packs too. I just pimped out my Mossberg 500 with all this gear and Im loving it so far- Probably never gonna try selling this one, so not worried about resale value.

Thank you. Colt

Just keep all the original parts, then if you decide to sell, put it back to original, and sell the add-ons separate. Leaving the shotgun the way you like it, will likely decrease the value to someone else, but as original, plus selling upgrades will get you the best value.

Check slap occurs if you are holding it very low to your cheeks. If you are running bead sights, the Knoxx stock is not well suited for it, for ghost rings, the cheek weld is perfect.

Traditional stocks seem to handle easier and faster for me, including reloads.
But the Knoxx stock is a good compromise if you enjoy running a pistol grip hold with ghost rings.

Another option is the Knoxx Compstock...similar in principle to the Specops, and you get the traditional stock form factor. I've had both Knoxx products, sold them, and now use the Mesa, which I don't think I'll ever sell.

nutfancy is a backyard commando... He makes one valid point about the cheek slap, and his stock did malfunction after abuse (who knows what or how he was shooting?) ...BUT he is a wannabe. I watched several of his videos. airsoft lamer

I own the stock.. it works as advertised. Personally there are positive and negative points to the pistol grip style.. but this is good dollar value. Leaps and bounds above ATI or others. I am buying another Norinco to keep the original stock on. I found a place that hp-9 14" is going for $259 brand new!!
