Should I buy a KSG or the New SAP 6 From Tactical Imports? Advice?

What are you doing with it?
In competition the KSG are nothing but problems. The mag fed shotguns safe a LOT of time on certain CoF's.

For fun? the KSG get some good looks and puts a smile on peoples faces blasting off 14 rounds while screaming "get sum'" at the top of your lungs.

I'd go with the ksg , good track record and there are aftermarket parts available. You get a shotgun with an 18" barrel in a package shorter than the sap 6. I agree in competition the ksg is slower to reload but if you're not competing id go with the more proven design.

From a personal or predator defense perspective I would say the Sap-6 because inserting a mag and racking the pump is alot easier and MUCH faster than loading 6 rounds into the underside of a KSG. From a competition perspective, the KSG would dominate so long as you needed no more than 15 rounds in a stage and where allowed to stage the shotgun loaded. Otherwise I say Sap-6.

Ksg wins on cool aid factor however!

I just sold my KSG. Super fun but not reliable. Action occasionally stick in the rear position when short shucked. Also, it was a huge pain in the ass to reload 15 rounds. I would usually only load 7 and alternate tubes.

I also owned a Norinco mag fed shotty which was fun but even more unreliable then the KSG. Also heavier then the KSG despite the short barrel. Out of 4 mags I possessed only one would feed reliably and when I sold the gun I didn't even bother to include one of the mags because I never got through all 5 rounds with a a failure to load.

I would still recommend either firearm. KSG because it's badass and Norinco as a quick loader for home defense. But, I would wait on more range reviews for the SAP 6 before deciding.

My KSG is not reliable enough to be anything other than a range toy. I have a 8.5" Norc mag fed that has functioned perfectly, it's heavy and rough but it just works.

I think the jury has spoken for the KSG, I haven't played with one but it has had it's 15 minutes of fame and it hasn't obsoleted anything that was previously on the market.
As for the SAP6, the appeal of a mag fed shotgun is undeniable, on paper it should be the bee's knee's however most mag fed shotguns that are/were available in Canada have left something to be desired in one way or another. If they got it right you have a winner, but, this early in the game do you want to use your money to find out?
I think the proven platforms have nothing to worry about, for awhile at least...

My experience with friend's KSG is that it kicks like a mule, malfunctions frequently and when it works- it's clunky at best.

No offence to KSG owners, to each his own.

There are better deals on the market for $1000 dollars tactical shotgun.

Fabarm Martial ProForces comes to mind, and Canada Ammo has it in stock.

Another one is Benneli Supernova Tactical, and usually goes for around $800.

In my opinion, both are superior choices over two shotguns in original posting.

Cheers,
Dan

Wow, I am quite suprised about the general consensus on this thread about the KSG and can't help but feel that it has to be the operators making it malfunction.

I have fed mine well over a 1000 rounds of Target, probably 50 slugs, and probably another 50 double aught buck. All various manufactures, high brass/low brass, 2 3/4"-3", all with out malfunction and hasn't been field stripped since initial cleaning after purchase. Just a few squirts of G96 here and there. Haha

If you dont treat it like a delicate polymer gun it will run like a champ... thats the problem everyone is making it seems. RACK IT LIKE A MAN YOU PUSSY! HAHA

Mr Internet tough guy, your attempts at humour are admirable.

Kel- Tec might be your idea of quality, however it certainly can not compete with fine Italian shotguns on any level, other than as a novelty item.

Cheers,
Dan

P.S.

Haha

I aint trying to be no internet tough guy, I am just saying mine has ran very well thus far and I would take a benelli m4 for sure if they were better priced and our semi-auto mag capacity laws didnt exist, nor did our barrel length laws or our storage unloaded laws. A mag fed pump circumvents all of these laws for the most parts. Torture/reliability testing of the Sap-6 starts tomorrow. Hope it runs like a champ the same as my KSG.

I will give my KSG a good cleaning and oiling before I take it out again. It would be nice if I could get it to function flawlessly like some other examples.

I've had my KSG for about a year now and have had no problems with it, and I like having the option of bird shot in one tube, and buck shot/slugs in the other when I'm out in the bush, plus it's a light, short gun. I have a Norc mag fed, which I bought for the novelty more than anything else. It's a fun little gun, and the mag-fed feature is cool and changing ammo types on the fly is sweet, but it's heavier than anything and with a 12.5" barrel, you can't really put any other stock on it other than a fixed one.

Turkey, same as the UTAS. The Sap-6 is manufactured by Dagger Arms.

Took my Sap-6 out for the first time on Sat. It ran like a top as long as you ran it assertively, the spring load against the pump made it even more apparent that being to easy on it would jam with the mag fed design.

Thanks for the INFO :D
