Should I buy a Norc M305?

Yes I suppose you are correct. I don't use my iron sights that way.

I can, and do shoot my Norks out to 600+.

I have had rifles across my bench that were locktited. I had to cut off the rear sight to remove it so I could properly index the barrel.

By all means, it's your iron do what you will. While your at it why not mig weld on the op-rod guide because it's loose. Chop off the bayo-lug with a side grinder. Cut the rear sight ears off to clearance the scope bell..... these are all things I have seen 'bubbas do to Chinese rifles....

But when you sell it, don't be surprised if the buyer gets pissed at you and leaves negative feedback.

I used purple locktight relax. It was either that or not shoot the rifle while I locate a replacement. The sight appears to be functioning normally now which is a significant improvement over the sight completely coming loose when you adjust the elevation.

I recently bought a used from an online retailer . Put a stainless op rod in it and blew through 400++ rounds of assorted ammo. Shooting 2 moa and the only issue I had was the odd hang up brass from the scope mount. After reading this I'll try the removal of a few spring coils . I say buy one shoot and enjoy .

Hey Stripes, I don't think you mentioned is what are the other choices of new toys you're considering and how do you intend to use it? Wondering what you are asking people to compare the M305 to?

If I missed it in this thread my apologies.

I may just have to take you up on that Barney! It's a fun rifle to mess around with and I actually enjoy tinkering with it. This weekends project is fixing the loose op-rod guide and fitting it to my "new" USGI wood stock. It's periodically failing a function test while the action is in the stock, when I remove the action from the stock and put the trigger group in place it passes a function test everytime. I'm guessing it needs a little massaging where the trigger group sits in the stock.

Norlandgeese I was debating between it an m38/m44 or an svt40. While I would like to eventually get those rifles as well, I'm glad with my choice to buy an M305!
 
I have 3 made in China M14's in .308 and one Springfield in .243 the made in China ones are a good value for the money but headspace and bolt lug contact can be an issue. If you are reloading for them do your homework with primer type, primer seating depth and adjusting your full length sizing die (or preferably small base full length resizing die). You can buy 3 good Norinco's for the price of one used Springfield and enjoy it for many years.
