Should I Even Buy Ammo?

Buy a crap ton of ammo if it’s even remotely decently priced. It might be the only chance left in your lifetime. You can always sell it at a profit later if need be.

Im waiting on transfers as well, and bought 2k of 9mm on sale. Ill probably buy more when I see it on sale, well before I get my guns. One less thing to worry about plus it scratches the buying itch lol

Pick up your brass after shooting...

always buy ammo if you need it or not
I think I have ammo for guns that I don't even have lol

+1. I went on a ammo buying spree in 2008/2009 after Obama's election. Bought so much ammo that I didn't even have the guns to shoot, but I could read the writing on the wall. Loaded up on .223 and 9mm and .308, and even 12ga even though I had no guns that shot those back then.

Years later, I look back and that was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I look at my box of Winchester white box 9mm 124gr 100 count value pack. $8.95 price tag in 2008. Nowadays, Tenda has a box of 50 of the same for $36.99. If I were to buy 100 rounds, I would be paying eight (8) times what I paid only 14 years ago.

To this day, I still have ammo from back then for which I don't have the corresponding gun (ie. .243). I may get the rifle one day, but if not, I can always sell the ammo no problem.

I know today's prices see exorbitant, but if the past 20 years is an any indication, the trend IN GENERAL is that over long periods of time, ammo will only go up in value. And this doesn't even take into the account the points about availability.

I have always said guns will always be harder for Socialist to control, but stopping ammo coming into Canada is way easier. Don't be surprised if ammo import restrictions are next!

As I see it, with regard to import permits primers are the weak point.

Not sure if there are any primer companies in Canada but I think we have domestically produced option for everything else (ie bullets / powder etc).

definitely buy ammo, especially if you can get it at a discount.
It's usually not easy to find a deal on it, and with the colossal number of new handguns bought in the last few months, there are that many more people that will be wanting ammo.

So even if you get it and your guns don't get approved in time, you can always get your money back on the ammo.

Buy the ammo. No sense in buying a pistol and have nothing to shoot in it. Unless, like me, you panic bought a Desert Eagle knowing full well there isn't any .50AE in the country.

I hear you; in fact, when I receive my order this week; I will have tons of ammo that I don't have guns for (LOL).

Thanks for responding.

Never thought that I would live to see the day where ammo would not be available; let's hope our "valiant" leader in Ottawa doesn't go that far.

And just to be clear, "valiant" is sarcasm.

Thank you for sharing your ammo experiences. I just got into shooting this year, so I am unable to comment on prices today versus prices during 2008 and 2009.

The only comparable that I can think of is housing in the GTA. We sold our house in Mississauga in 2014 for $625,000; today, that house is worth $1.5 million. WOW

And as others have said; ammo prices are only going to go up; not down.

Thanks for the advice; planning to put in my ammo order today.

Looking at 1,000 Rounds of 9MM and 2,500 Rounds of 22LR.

Buying ammo is the easy part from a retail store in person or shipped.

Buying Ammo on the private side of things like the EE section on this website is not so easy unless you live within driving distance of the seller.

Most ads say no shipping.
