Should I get a Jewell trigger? Having 2nd thoughts

Adjust it yourself, it is easy. Screw 1 sets sear engagement and is closes to barrel(in = less sear engagement), screw 2 is middle screw partly covered by some tabs and this one sets overtravel (in = more overtravel) , screw 3 is on the trigger shoe and sets pull force (in = more pull force).

ADJUSTMENT Procedure:
1) Ensure rifle is unloaded!!!
2) #### action, turn screw (1) unward until action fires. Back screw out 3/4 of a turn.
3) Recock action, turn screw 2 out until it contacts tab. While applying pull on the trigger shoe, turn screw 2 inward until action fires. Turn screw 2 inward another 1/4 turn.
4) Recock action and measure pull force. Turn screw 3 in for more pull force or out of less.
5) Operate action for your particular method of shooting and adjust as needed.

HVR Springs
A = 8 oz to 56 oz
B = 2 oz to 16 oz
C = 1.5 oz to 3.0 oz
D = +56 oz

If you have creep, you have possibly screw 1 OUT too far giving you more sear engagement and screw 2 IN too far giving you more overtravel.

Regarding price, check Larry Scott's prices, yes Larry is in the US but still you should not have to pay much more in Canada.

BTW I have 2 BR Jewell's and 1 HVR, all with top safety releases, and they are all great triggers with no issues.

Thank you for adjustment procedure! The Jewell I am getting for my build is the one that has no safety on it at all, is the procedure the same?
Thx

Or for a really nice trigger the CG @ $335.
I've been eyeing these. The issue with these that apparently has yet to be addressed is that they require stock inletting on a rem700, they aren't a drop-in. Not sure about you, but I'm in no hurry to dremel away at my stock/bottom metal to try a trigger I may/may not like.

the thing you have to understand about Jewel is that to my knowledge, they don't make anything but triggers. It's kind of like Polk Audio just making speakers. They're not trying to dable in all kinds of stuff. They specialize in what they do and because there is adjustment in the trigger itself, I have no doubt if there's creep, it's because it hasn't been set up quite right. They're one of the industry leaders for a reason. I have two jewels, like I said and the only downside is grabbing one of your guns that doesn't have a jewel after you've shot one with.

Jewell also makes scope rings for fixed scopes. By fixed I mean frozen, no more internal adjustments so the adjustment are on the rear ring.... and the front one has a live self centering sleeve

Back in the mid-seventies, target scopes with internal adjustments were all the rage because they eliminated the fussy adjustable mounts. Neat how things have come full circle.
It is with some trepidation in the middle of this Jewell love fest that I put forth my opinion. I think the Jewell trigger is over rated. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a fine trigger. I just don't think it is perfection and I don't think it's worth 325 dollars.
For whatever reason, many shooters of Jewells seem to like a little creep. Happily, because the triggers are well made, it is smooth creep! The creep is easily eliminated if one prefers a good trigger! Regards, Bill.

With everything I've been reading about Jewell triggers triggers having creep I am starting to wonder if there is a better trigger out there? My first custom build is a 7mm Dakota with rem hunter mcmillan edge stock, Rock barrel 26" No 4 contour. predator action, 3-way safety. It will be used for hunting and range work, any suggestions appreciated!
Thanks

I think JEWELL triggers are quite pricey, I go with TIMMY trigger!

If you get a Jewell with the safety you will have to do some inletting for it as well. If you get one without the safety then it will drop right in with no other work required.

I have 2 jewell's and love them, both set at 2 lbs cause they are both on tactical match rifles, but will never go back to anything else. No creep and clean break.

I had two hvr's with safety that I recently sold, and no inletting was required. Might depend on the stock you have.

Why did I sell them? I keep my triggers kind of heavy (3#) to stay legal for the brca tactical shoot, and at that weight I didn't feel that much difference, *for me*, over my tuned remmy trigger.

The Barnard P most often gets the Barnard trigger but the S and SM can take any 700 type trigger so the CG is an excellent way to go. The CG is also available for the Tikka T3 we also make stocks for T3.

Jewell makes a fantastic trigger, I know a couple of match shooters that use em.
I Have 2 of the Kelbly's and think they're amazing as well. My trigger weights are set with PINS and are adjustable at 2,4,6 and 8 oz.

Come on, Savage, you just gonna throw that out in the open without elaborating the least bit?? :D
The McMillan rifle I have has the Anshcutz trigger.Really smooth you can adjust the the trigger lenght or change the trigger shoe itself it is a 2 stage trigger there is no creep on the trigger you can adjust the first stage to 5lbs and adjust the second stage to 3oz.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the jewell trigger, and especially on a hunting rifle. It's vastly superior to the factory trigger in almost every case. Creep is adjustable, as is backlash and pull weight. All 3 adjustments need to be synchronized or there may be problems, including creep.

You need to start trying things for yourself. Two out of three opinions on these forums are worthless, having been formed from adopting another person's perspective and not from actual experience.
