I bought one recently, as I am convinced that firearms should be made of plastic and metal, they should be corrosion-proof, and they should be inexpensive. The 887 is a concept, a first try if you will, and comparisons to the 870 are wholly inappropriate as they are entirely different. Should you compare one to the other you will be disappointed.
My gunsmith (a master tool & die maker, and a firearms instructor and enthusiast of long standing) and I examined this firearm and he pronounced it fit for human use, remarking on the extreme strength of the bolt lock-up system and the intriguing nature of the Armorlokt system. We look forward to shooting it soon. He also decided that he wanted one, as it would make a dandy truck gun for all-weather use.....
I suspect it might help to understand that the 887 is not intended to replace the 870, nor even to complement it. The 887 is something else entirely, and needs to be considered on its own merits. If your initial response to it is something to the effect of, 'Well, it's nothing like my 870 (sniff)', then you are missing the point.
