Should I get rid of my 1911 22 ?

Half the price of a Glock? Have you seen prices of them lately?

They must be gold lined now, I would never pay those prices for plastic.

You use to be able to get a bottle of coke for a nickel at one time too. :p

A new Glock goes for somewhere around $750 depending on which model you get. Pretty much what many polymer guns are going for these days.

Hahah what!? They are $1150 before tax! Where have you been?

Not getting ripped off by someone with another " custom " stippling job. Notice your post has been deleted from this thread??

Brand new $990. https://ellwoodepps.com/glock-m17l-long-barrel-adjustable-sight-110178.html

Your guns used, the parts you have into it don't add up to much.

If I was to sell my G17 with Storm Lake barrel, factory barrel, adjustable sights, wolf spring kit, trigger with trigger stop, stainless guide rod, 4 mags I would ask maybe $850 shipped because it's a used gun and isnt worth any more than that and I would actually want to sell it instead of bumping it 8 times.

NO I AM NOT SELLING MY GLOCK G17 ITS JUST AN EXAMPLE. IT WAS MY FIRST HANDGUN :)

I'd say keep the gsg because your not going to get a bunch of money for a used readily available gsg 1911 22. Grab yourself a walther ppx range kit $519. holster, double mag carrier 3 mags great trigger.

I've got both the GSG and a Norinco 29 in 9mm. Perfect combo. It did take me a few hundred rds. to get the Norinco broke in and working properly, but that's time/money well spent.

Got my G22 with night sights, stainless guide rod and 6 mags for 700$ last fall on EE. 4th gen and not even a scratch on the barrel. I agree, some guys far over charge, regardless of 'upgrades'.

Keep the GSG. Use for low cost range time and when introducing friends to shooting. Need a 9mm now, get a Norc NP29. If you can wait, save up and buy a CZ Shadow. Shadow2 is coming this summer.. You can always sell the NP29 later.

It sounds like there is a pretty big split between keeping and selling the GSG this is exactly what I wanted as far as pros and cons. Thank you guys for your input its really appreciated. I keep seeing pictures of the CZ shadow 2 and it looks amazing however im also seeing some great deals for the regular shadow as well as Glocks on the EE. Lots of choices need to be made! but you guys are a big help!

This is exactly what I have. Except I bought mine the other way. I bought the NP29 first then bought the GSG. I just use them both for plinking around like you. If I decide to get into IPSC this year I might by something better, but until then this is my setup.

IMO….once you get the 9mm you will shoot the GSG less and less. If you can afford to keep the GSG do so. Everyone should have a 22lr HG in their cabinet for those days you just want to plink.
The Walther PPX range kit is great value for under $550 BNIB vs paying more for used Glocks and Cz's.

It sounds like cash is tight for you at the present time.

Why not keep the GSG and buy ammo and shoot it on the cheap. That is unless you have your heart set on a 9mm.

What I was going to suggest is that you start saving little by little over the next year or so until you have enough cash plus the GSG to trade for a CZ 75/85 plus the Kadet conversion. Look for a good used one!

It is nice to have the same gun in both the cheap practice 22cal plus the centrefire (in this case 9mm).

I quite like my CZ 75 and 85. The trigger pull is a bit heavy in single action unlike a quality target 22 pistol but still crisp with a very smooth double action.

The thing about the Kadet conversion unit is that mine is amazingly accurate and functions 100% with anything you feed it. You have to realize that it has a stationary barrel with the sights affixed to it with just a slide that works back and forth. So it is like the S&W 41 design.

I'd keep the GSG as well, save up and get a nice 9mm later on. They are both fun to shoot but the .22 will save you a ton of money in ammo.

Either one will please it's just a matter of cash

My first gun was a model 29 revolver and my 5th a GSG 1911 .22 which I shot for the very first time this past friday afternoon. Neat gun but hate the trigger pull and Im no where near as consistent with it as I am my DE. I was disappointed mainly due to the trigger but plan to keep it for my 12 year old son to use as his introduction to handguns. Ill correct the trigger then I think it'll be a lot more fun and since its so inexpensive to buy and use it just doesn't make sense to sell it.

They do get smoother and work better after a few hundred rounds, perhaps cleaning up the trigger a bit will also help it feel better.
