Should I just withdraw my PAL/RPAL application?

I'd say don't give up. Even more so being in your position, life's guna be hard don't let the government add onto that load of bull####.

If you withdraw your appliocation. They may try to claim in the future that you were refused. Which then becomes a road block in future applications. And possibly issues for border crossing.

Update:

After a year and a half of waiting, I finally got my RPAL/PAL. The CFO ended up contacting my references and those involved in the incident I mentioned. Less than a month later, I got my PAL in the mail. He never called me again, nor did he request anything from my doctor.

My take on the situation, the CFO was lazy and wanted to lighten his workload by trying to scare me into withdrawing my application. Once he finally got to my file (after 1.5 years) and began calling my references, it took less than 30 days to get my PAL in the mail (that includes the whole postal backlog!)

I'm still upset it took 1.5 years for them to get to my file. 1.5 years of waiting only for them to be like "Yup, he's good". Plus, the added stress of all the BS the CFO tried to pull with me.

Thanks guys for all your responses. I'm glad I didn't withdraw my application. It's obviously not the most ideal time to get into firearms but I'm happy to be here now :)

I am so glad you persisted, well done IrishCanuck & a hearty congratulations!

This update made my day! Thank you.

Congrats... now please do us all a favour and make your first purchase a semi auto from a local dealer. Support your local dealer during these uncertain economic times, get the gun numbers that are legally circulating in Canada up, and I recommend any type of semi auto because banning these will be the government end game! If you are unsure what to buy or what is in your price range, just start a new thread... CGNers love to have an opinion.

+1

And buy many at one time. Give them a headache! ;)

If your in my area, Stathroy/London I can arrange a day of shooting different 22lr rifles and pistols. Might help you decide what kind of rifle your looking for.

I would be P'd off too, that it took so long. Good that you stuck it out - and very good that you finally have your PAL. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this "hobby" enough, that it makes the horsecrap you had to endure, worthwhile.
