Should I keep Glock 17 or Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm?

I've got G34 in 9mm and MP40 i like both of them but MP40 more.
I heard all the stories and know everything about glock but when it comes to shooting i definitly choose MP40.All my friends,wife,cousin who ever went on a range with me likes glock more.I am so comfortable with MP40 that would tell you only this;
try them,try some more and whatever feels better for you make a decision,
there is no doubt in all the goodies about glock but PO and experience is only for you to know.

GLOCK. This is my Glock 21SF. Love it.

I have one question about my Glock 17 to which I`m new to. As you all probably know there is an empty space behind the magazine inside the grip, I really don`t know what the point of that is. I`m sure you guys know. :)

Let me know what that space should be used for.:D

There is at least one guy on YouTube who uses it for two spare rounds, but that isn't of any use to us in Canada.

We could use it for this.

I was thinking more about it, and I have to say you should keep both. You've already paid for them (even if on credit, not my business either way), and once a handgun is in your house, ammo is only real expense involved. The only gun I ever sold, I had to, because, yeah I had it, but it was a 17hmr rifle, so I'd have to buy nice rings, and a good scope, and yet another caliber of ammo, a gun that I won for free was going to cost me $400 just to put a round through it. You're obviously already set up for 9mm, and it's not like if you currently shoot 200 rounds per outing, you'll now be required to shoot 400. You'll still shoot the same round count, just split between two guns. If anything, keep them both through the winter, by then you can decide you shoot more, or better, consider any $$$ loss to be a rental fee.

I went onto the GLOCK site and I checked around to see what the space behind the magazine is for. I seen a couple pictures of them having an internal lock that fits inside which stops an "outsider" to take the mag out or disasemble.

That slot is where you Glock guys keep your but plug, isn't it? :D

For what it's worth my experience with the M&P has been flawless, both in 9mm and 45acp. My experience with Glocks (which is mostly from when they were as new as the M&P) was less than flawless, far less than flawless. I don't think there's a bad choice here.

Thank you everyone for the answers and information you have provided me with. I guess I`ll take both of the handguns to range a couple more times and try to improve myself.

A fellow I shoot with has shot the barrel out of his M&P9 in about 20,000 rounds... He still loves it but can't compete with it and getting a new barrel is proving...problematic. fwiw

That space have its purpose;
-plug that can extend the palm grip with space inside for glock lock key or any trigger lock key(for use in Canada),spare round or dummy round wher allowed or needed.
-magwell conector and again same as above with space inside
-i've seen pics of glock stock that is also conected there
that's three that i can think of,preety much enough for any glock user but think that for Canada magwell is the best purpose.
