Looking for some opinions on whether or not I should sell this rifle because I could use/need the money to fund something else I have in mind (not hunting related). The reason I bought the 300 WSM was to hunt for moose and elk but I keep seeing more and more articles/threads that if you're hand loading your .308 or 7-08 with the right load, either of these calibers will do the job nicely on either of these animals as long as your shot placement is good which I believe is well within my shooting capability. I also like the idea of far less recoil which could also translate into better accuracy when using either of these other rifles.
BTW, I have both the afore mentioned calibers which I hand load for. I use 120 gr. TTSX (7-08) and 130 gr. TTSX (.308). They are both VERY accurate loads giving me about 2950 fps velocity in both of them. I do want to stick with copper projectiles (Barnes) so if you feel either of these bullets is on the light side I could bump up the weight,,,,,say a 140 gr. TTSX or a 145 gr. LRX in the 7-08 or 150 gr. TTSX in the .308. I rather doubt I'll be shooting anything past 300 yards. I should mention that I have no desire to sell either my Sako .308 or 7-08,,,,they're both keepers!
What do you think I should do? All suggestions are welcome.
