Here's my predicament. I have 2 medium bore rifles sitting in the rack that see there usage split. One is a Ruger 77 Mk II in 338 Win Mag, the other a semi custom Stevens 200 in 358 win.

Now, part 2, I head into a local gun shop looking for a 10-22 yesterday, and there on the rack is a Ruger Alaskan in the 375 ruger. I get to thinking that it can do almost everything the 338 can do, and certainly everything the 338 can do at the ranges i will shoot it. It is also handy enough to fill the niche i built the 358 for. Now i would love to have all three, but that is not an option right now, so should i sell the two to finance one, or should i be happy with what i've got and live with it?

Your Mark 11 is hard to beat but as you said the 375 will do anything it can if properly loaded. Or close enough, and can be loaded with bigger bullets if really needed. Get the 375. If you've never had one you diserve it.

Sounds like shiney metal syndrome to me. If you were really gaining something over the other two I'd say sure. But you'll be getting rid of two slightly smaller guns for one a little bit bigger is all. Sure if it was say a large bore 404 or bigger, than that's different.

The fact that you asked the question means that your desire and your practical side are at war. Give in to your desire and you will feel cheap, but you will have a shiney new toy:D

You're asking if you should get a new gun....duh...of course.

And yes, Gate does have an unhealthy love for the Ruger 375!

Problem is, it almost feels practical to give into the desire. You know, no more 338 or 358 decisions, just grab the 375 and go. Oh well, i think i am gonna leave this up to the people of CGN, i get a final veto of course, but if the trend continues, watch the EE.

Unless you need the 375 for bears or wahtnot, I would keep what you have. If you reload, you will also have the cost of getting set up to load for it (more bullets, dies, brass, etc) and may not have any use for the other gear once you get rid of the others. If you do not laod, the new Ruger ammo is not easy to find yet; if you do I have been told it is pricey. I have a 375 H&H, but if I had a 338 at the time, I do not think I would have bothered (30-06 is next size down).

OR.....

Brew your coffee at home instead of buying timmies, save your pennies and buy the .375 late in the summer, then you have all 3!!!

It's no 375 Taylor, but at least it's a 375. Do it!

In all seriousness though, if you're a reloader, the 375 would be a great choice. If you aren't, then it could be tricky.

sell the stevens cause its ugly and keep the ruger cause its nice then buy the 375. the 358 becomes redundant with the 338 and 375.

Keep what you got cause if you don't you'll miss it someday. Save up and order the 375 when you have the cash.

Totally Agree!!! If the 375 Ruger is that succesfull it won't be going anywhere in a hurry.

I'll keep buying guns but am unsure If I'll ever sell.

Merry Christmas!
