Do it. I just sold two, added some cash, and picked up a Sako75 Finnlight. Don't think I'll regret it. If I had to save for it, I'm afraid I would never have one.

What does that do that his .338 Win Mag doesn't already do better? There are safe book listed loads that send 225's to 2950 fps, and 250's to 2800. Even mild factory .338 loads handily beat your stout Whelen loads.

The only advantage to a .35 Whelen is somewhat lighter recoil, and a hair more bullet diameter for the same weight. Otherwise, the .338 is more gun.
 
he who dies with the most toys wins,no really i would keep the 338 and sell posibly the stevens but do a wait and see look what happening to the rem short mag line has become almost obsolete,same with the new federal cartridge was that a 338 or 375 . ammo and brass will be hard to come by depends where you live,i had actually gone to all 375 h and h s and now will have to wait if my jaw can take the abuse,had jaw surgery,otherwise I will slowley sell them and get milder guns

trade one of the two u don't really love, bite the bullet and get the one u want. then you have one old and one new. Why get rid of both smaller calibers. Long term vision & balance is the key to success
 
Look at it this way

I used to have abotu 70 or more guns

I realized I rarely shot most of them

I purged most of them

I bought a few guns that were expensive,but that I REALLY REALLY liked

I gotta tell you, I feel way better with ONE $4000 custom rifle/scope combination than 8 $500 rifles...;)

I'd keep what I have for now. There will be more .375s coming down the pipeline. Start saving your pennies and by hunting season you should be the owner of a brand new Ruger.

I changed my avatar to an inverted Canadian Flag as a result of the attempted coup by the NDP/Libs/BQ. Flying an upside down flag is a universal symbol for "distress". At the time, I felt that our country was in extreme distress from internal factions hoping to bring down a legitimately elected government for their own personal political gains. Until the issue is resolved once and for all in the New Year, I'll continue to fly the flag upside down.
