A firearm that isn't being used is a wasted investment. Not using a firearm is no different than not owning it, with the exception of having shelled out some coin for one that collects dust as opposed to one you never had.
the way I see it is right now I have the money invested in the SIG, yes I won't get 100% of the cash back, but I also have money in the bank that I don't use (sure I'm getting a couple % in interest) but technically they are also collecting dust.

What I was getting onto before is that if you buy say a $1000 gun, than when you sell it you only get $800 or so for it, then buy another gun for $800 later sell it for $650, decide to buy something else later and sell it for 500, than if you sell it, you only have anought cash to buy a Norinco  I guess it won't happen if you buy used guns, but I prefer to buy new. That is the main thing spopping me from selling it.

IM,

If you are willing to save up for future firearms without having to sell any of your current collection(this is called budgeting folks) then why not keep the 220. If you're itching to get the .308 or shotgun then I say sell it. I tend to packrat stuff as well. I've sold a ton of gear that I no longer used. Every time I sell something I wonder if it was the right decision. To date, I haven't replaced anything I've sold.

For anything I own, if I haven't used it or thought about using it(plans change, events get canceled) within the last year. It gets sold off.

Winz,

I hear what you're saying with regards to firearms maintaining their value. From a possession/hobby standpoint anything not being used is not a wise investment in ones hobby. Like I said, if you can afford to keep it and wait to get something else go for it. Personally I feel the value in firearms is priceless due to the usefulness and ability to be applied to many tasks.

I won't vote, but will add my thoughts...

My personal philosophy with firearms is that I must either shoot it regularly, or it must be rare / collectable (I'm into Enfields, finding older and older ones, and blackpowder .303 ain't that much fun to set up to reload for...!).

That said, if the P220ST is not geting used, you should consider selling it, IMHO.

HOWEVER... I'm only guesing here... Market value is going to be... Say it's as high as $1500 (which I doubt, but not sure). Your SPS tactical runs around $700-800, a good bipod is $100, and you could easily spend as much as the cost of the rifle on optics...

Tough call: Do you prefer handguns, or rifles?

(Sitting on the fence),
