Should I try slower or faster powder in my 358?

For my 358 Win in a Browning BLR, I worked up to the 1/2grain under the max load for IMR 4320 with hornady 200grain PSP bullets. I think it was 50.5 grains, I dont have my book handy. The primers show obvious flattening, hotter than I like, but my chrono velocity was only 2440. I have read of people getting 2600 with 200 grain bullets. I get 2300 with 225's. I dont need every drop of speed out of it, but would like a little more.

I was wondering if I should try a faster or slower powder next? Books list from as fast as IMR3031 to as slow as Win 748 for the 358win with a 200 grain bullet.

I would like to try both, but the budget and range time are limited and the season is fast approaching.
 
If you are getting pressure signs and insufficent velocity, you have to go to a slower powder. If you are getting insufficent velocity and you can't squeeze any more powder into the case you have to go to a faster powder.

I'd try Varget.
 
Slapshot, for what it's worth, when I was working up loads in my 9,3x57 this summer, I tried IMR3031, H4895, H414, which I couldn't get any velocity out of.
H335 worked great, giving me 2460 with a 270gr Speer for the top load I used and will use the rest of this season.

While not identical, both our cases are somewhat similar and hopefully will put as big a smile on your face as mine has for me!

Nosler No. 3 manual lists a max of 49.5gr of IMR 4895 under a 225gr bullet.
That load in my BLR under a Sierra 225gr BT, using WLRM primers, averages 2450 fps.
Accuracy is 1" for 3 shots.

I think we're all mixed up here.....if you are using 4320 and you change to WW748 or 4064 you are going to a faster powder not aslower one. All the powders mentioned here(4895, BL-C, AA2015,3031) are all faster than 4320(with the possible exception of H414.)

Are you sure? I was going by the burn rate list link in the sticky at the top of this reloading forum. I'm sure the they are listed fastest to slowest.
 
I wouldn't go with that table as it is wrong, it may be okay for the Hogdon powders but is off, IMR says that 4320 is slower than 4064, I would consider 4320 to slow for the .358.....don't go by the list, I would only start with loads from a good manual and work your way up.
