Magazine manufacturer and Marketer's lobby??? Funniest thing I've read all week. Thank you for that at least...

Many comment on how ignorant the average American is ... but its obvious the average Canadian is the same.

Dont know for sure! Seems that I have to get more 5 round clips to supply the Capitalists and commies with all their bulls**t nonsense. I will take that up the arss like every time I file my taxes. One day, I will have a 200 round clip, not quite sure what I will do with it though. Need to follow more of these comments to find out I guess?:sucks:

i own two lee Enfeilds and a single shot .410. my rifles have 10 round mags i know your suppose to only put 5 in and when i did my hunters test i answered the question 5 shot total but when i use my rifle hunt i have never loaded a mag with less then 10 rounds. i've simply made the personal decision that in this case i am ok with not following the law and am ok with dealing with the results should someone try to charge me. so no we should not be pinned at 5 rounds but really its up to you how many you load.

Semi auto center fire only champ, and were it the case that it was illegal to load your lee enfields to 10, the illegality is the magazines themselves, not just when you load em past 5

WTF? Are you trying to get banned?

No, no they should not, but for now they are, unless you are using LAR-15 mags or garand and enfields.

It's a stupid law that mandates a "ritual" that only affirms and legitimizes it's faulty premise & offending nature. Criminals won't obey the limits, so by default, it's designed for decent lawful gun owners. Simply put, if you can't trust a person with a full capacity mag, why would you trust them with a gun? That is the design and purpose of the silly law and we shoot ourselves in the foot by going along. But what can you do - the law is the law - all you can do is try and change it.

Not a good start, my friend. :( Rather than risking large financial losses, why not help us change the law instead. Sit tight, we're making progress.

xxdmasxx seems to think that he is being bold and defiant loading 10 rounds in his Lee Enfield magazines - when all along it is perfectly legal for him to do so, as far as firearms legislation is concerned.

WTF? Are you trying to get banned?

Read it again, there is a misunderstanding from both partys.

He is using a Lee-Enfield, which has a 10 round magazine, which is not pinned because it does not need to be pinned, as it is a bolt action (No magazine cap limits), and is specifially exempted in the firearms act as well. (Nothing to do with the rifle, just the magazines, which were used for a prototype semi/full auto rifle in WWII that never made it to production.)

He is not doing anything illegal, even if he thinks he is.

From those who speak of freedom, when voicing my opinion I receive insults, belittlement and arguments, only a few answer my questions and most condemn me as an 'anti' while doing so.

-Your wife killed a deer with a 30 round magazine in her ak47 using 3 shots, I'm happy neither of your robbed or killed anyone does this merit a pat on the back? This could have also been accomplished with a magazine pinned to 5 rounds.

-I don't need a car going over 110km, I would like one, and I have one, I'm mostly just thankful that I don't have to walk. Motorcycles scare the crap out of me, my friend died on one at work outside a factory here in BC.
I guess though, that I am a scumbag for asking my question, I will meditate on this and hopefully try harder not to enforce my will (that of the eeeeevil antiiiii) on you over the internet.
*I don't think motorcycles should be made illegal because of his negligence, tragedy aside, many people enjoy them safely and find joy in their rides.

-In shooting competitions that require more than 5 shots use a different gun? One that is not required to have a mag pinned to 10? That seems difficult to do I'll give you that. Why do our shooting competitions require +5 shot groups? If you have legitimate reason for needing this many rounds in the magazine is there an exception?

-It would also be cheaper to not purchase a magazine in the first place than to weld a $20 rivet into one, I don't honestly believe money is the reason you would like this requirement to be lifted, if we were that concerned about cash in this hobby we would all be shooting bolt action .22s

-Frustration with the situation is something we share, but the point question is still there, why do we need it? It seems like most are just complaining because they WANT larger magazine capacity / feel they are being cheated and controlled by our government (which I do not disagree with) / or they feel that in a self defense situation they would NEED larger magazine capacity.
A) Get politically involved, the LGR can fall, mag limits can fall
B) Practice your reload, You obviously know how to illegally modify your capacity anyways.
C) Correct me if I'm wrong but the average firefight lasts something like under a minute, practice your reload, if you can't hit a target in 5 rounds get classes or glasses

-VViking thankyou for answering my question. I wish I had been alive in those days, I wish we could still do that! I agree with our freedom being slowly stripped away, not just with gun control either, drinking laws have tightened driving restrictions have tightened criminal sentences are constantly being beefed up and police/government are slowly stealing more and more of our liberty while gaining more an more power IN THE FACADE OF THE NAME OF OUR SAFETY. Agreed, this is scary, but what are we doing about it?

I'm sorry I've gone off topic a wee bit.

Satain I will not be returning my CGN membership because I value ALL the information, tips and opinions to be found on this forum. Even if I have to take a little lip once and awhile.
As for me being a socialist? Get real, warm gun, honest work and what liberty I am owed. Thankyou very much.

If we really wanna get rid of this limit on magazine capacity we need to educate people on why we should have more, an opportunity you were all just provided with and most turned down. Politically involved can and should probably start personally. Let your neighbors and friends know your opinion on this matter, with some legitimate reasons behind it and try to avoid calling them scumbags if *you think* they don't agree. Non threatening polite and contributing fire arms owners can represent firearms to the antis and change the ideology behind these stupid rules and regulations.
We live in a Democracy no? We need to win them over, this everyone's equal but the antis should be less equal nonsense needs a makeover.

Whew! End Rant

**EDIT
I have many magazines over 5 rounds right now, they just have a flimsy rivet pinning them to 5. A better question is why shouldn't I be able to take the pin out? Any moron can see that someone intent on committing a crime will take the pin out.

The following topics will not be tolerated. Violation will result in immediate and permanent suspension. Some quasi legal/ grey/downright illegal examples that are specifically not tolerated are:

4. Unblocking 5 rd magazines to regular capacity.

and on a final note under CGN General Rules and Guidelines:
4. Personal insults are not permitted. Do not say anything on CGN that you would not say in person.

^ You and your type are part of the problem. Nuff said.
Gunowners are our worst enemies. Jeezz. Some people NEVER learn.

Here is how I see it.

In a truly free society, "need" has nothing to do with anything. Do I need to have more than two or three or four centrefire rifles? No. But I want more of them and I can buy them.

Similarly, it should not matter how matter shots one has in a rifle. If someone wants to fire a twenty shot group instead of a five shot group, that ought to be their own business.

If a firearm was originally designed for a large capacity magazine, it looks rather silly with a short low capacity magazine in place. I wish I could legally own a proper 20 rounder for my M-14. At least that way the magazine would be easier to grip and insert. And the gun would not look goofy.

It is pretty sad when it takes about a minute to pop off those magazine rivets limiting to 5 shot...

What was the government trying to accomplish here.
