should the takedown pin holes be anodized?

Hey guys just a curious question. I noticed the rear takedown pin hole in the new lower receiver i have is just bare aluminum. Is this normal/will it cause trouble even with regular maintenance? Or should I be dealing with the vendor on this. None of my other lowers are like this and I really want to go shot it tomorrow. Sorry will have to wait till later to try and take pics.

I'd say it's not typical. It's not going to hurt anything (aluminum is good like that), but is a little "sloppy."

Perhaps the rear takedown hole is how the manufacturer submerged that batch of receivers for anodizing?
(or it was a too tight and someone sanded the hole to fit.)

Make?

You're not the only one ;) (interesting learning about all these makers different kwirks.)

"So I went and picked up a Daniel Defense AR for myself...been wanting one for years.

Anyway, it looks like the hole for the takedown and pivot pins in the lower receiver did not get anodized properly. The bottom half of the holes are shiny aluminum. Should I do anything to those areas, or just not worry about it. The fit between the upper and lower are good, and I see no other problems"

Definitely sounds like how they anodize their lowers. Cheers~

Hard anodizing can add a little bit of material (generally .0005-.001/ side) this is usually taken into account when machining. If it is in the solution a little too long, it can add a little bit more. Probably it came out of the tank a little too tight and they ran a reamer through it. Since the parts are submerged, that is the only reason one hole would not be anodised
