Thanks to a tip from a fellow nutter I finally tracked down a stock for my Chinese contract Inglis at a Switzer auction a few months ago. It's SA marked but with no "Made in Canada" so I guess it never got sold to the US. The fitting and finish of the metal makes me pretty confident it's not a Chinese copy. Took a while to find and it wasn't cheap but I'm glad I persevered. :d

Sailor, the Chinese copies have the SAL markings near the latch button or close by. Your stock is made of Walnut and has the marking on the wrist where the Canadian made units were originally stamped.

I have been told but can't verify that the Chinese were rather hard on their stocks and that they didn't order enough of them or the contract wasn't properly filled. So they just copied what they were sent. The thing is, they didn't use Walnut. They used other woods which were stained to look like Walnut but the interiors were left light.

It gets confusing because I have seen Canadian made stocks made of Maple.
