since this is a thread to show and brag in, here is my story. ill keep it short. its hard to pack all of my excitement in one post
this hunt was 2022 and in 13 days we are going back for a 12 day hunt same lake but my daughter has a goat tag this time
Living in NS wishing i could be in the mountains, after a few years of that i finally made it happen and move to BC with my family. I had a good friend from Alberta that always came on fishing trips with me, he ended up moving so I had no one to go on my first BC hunting trip with me. after a month of thinking I figured id bring my daughter, she always like adventuring with me and she was excited about the idea. she was 11 at the time.
so we get all packed up and ready for the trip a 11 day fly in hunt in Mt Edziza park. this was my first BC hunt, first time camping that long, my first fly in hunt, my first goat hunt, and by the end of it it was my first big game animal I ever shot, also i was using the first rifle I ever bought. lot of firsts
we saw lots of goats but couldn't connect with them as they were to high to retrieve them if shot. on day 6 i missed a goat by way farther than i should have so i realized i had banged my scope on something. we hiked back to base camp at the lake so i could remove my scope and mount so i can use my iron sights.
back up on the mountain, iron sighted rifle i hand, we see a Billy crossing the valley not to far from us. we duck behind the rock ledge and run up on him. i get about 40m away and shoot, his legs locked up and he started rolling. it was a sight to see, we couldn't have been more excited.
we connected with a goat on day 10, we flew out less then 24 hour later. 8" billy
i used a sporterized iron sighted Lee Enfield.
