So I finally finished my latest build. This one was my first where I assembled the lower from parts.
Parts list :
-NEA upper/lower and BCG
-Daniel Defense LPK, buffer tube and low pro gas block
-Magpul CTR stock and MOE grip
-Standard carbine buffer and spring
-Custom stainless 1:8 twist barrel which started life as a McGowan blank, built by Suputin. Gas block seat was made long in case I wanted to use a different gas block later on.
-S&J linear comp
-Badger charging handle
-Troy 11 inch Alpha forend with built in flip up front sight
-Stole the Hi-Lux 1-4x24 CMR-AK in QD PEPR off my other 300BLK AR.
-Just a Tapco stubby front grip on there for now.

And the pics :D

Test firing hopefully on Wednesday or Thursday once I have a day off work.
Haven't decided if I'm going to paint the barrel or leave it bare.
Looks like I should have washed my grubby hands and wiped down the barrel before I took the pics ;)

Very nice indeed. 300 AAC is the new king of ar15 chamberings!

This is my third 300BLK and I love the cartridge.
I have an Aero M4E1 upper with 12 inch M-Lok forend on order which will probably end up as a 300BLK as well but I haven't decided for sure yet.
I'm really hoping we start seeing the cheap bulk factory loads I've been told we should see sometime soon by a couple local retailers.

How about any news of bulk ammo? Will federal be pumping some 300 blackout in bulk soon? That's the only thing preventing me from getting a 300 upper.

I'll play...

9 inch match grade SS ATRS barrel and brake
Colt upper receiver, Troy rail
PSA lower, magpul grip, colt stock

Building these things is addictive using it. Haha

What's the recoil like on 300 Blackout, especially when shooting subsonics? I've been considering building an upper since I want to get into casting, figure if I can cast for rifle too I could keep my shooting costs way down.

Also, how do subs beat up the brass? Does it last awhile?

Recoil is a gentle push instead of the 223 snap and I have Remington 223 brass I formed into 300BLK with 5 loads on it and it still looks like the day I converted it. If you run your rounds hot or use a powder that isn't appropriate for the bullet weight you can get loose primer pockets (don't ask me how I know). I use H110 for my 110-130gr supersonic loads, LiL'Gun for mid weight supersonic, and A1680 for heavy subsonic loads. I will have to start over with my development with this rifle but those powders work in my other two 300BLK rifles.

I'll play too. My first build:

ATRS 9" 1:8 300 BLK Heavy Barrel Nitride Finish
ATRS Eliminator Flash Hider
ATRS Heavy Buffer
ATRS Low Profile Gas Block
DPMS M16 Bolt Carrier Group
Daniel Defense Lower Parts Kit
Noveske Chainsaw Lower
Ace upper
VLTOR 5 Position Buffer tube & IMOD stock
JP Handguard
Magpul MIAD Grip
BCM Mod 4 Charging Handle

First time out shot 110gr Supersonics and 208gr subsonics, both fed without a hitch. Quite a contrast to the muzzle blast of .223 especially out of a short barrel. I could have shot the subsonics without hearing protection if there were not others on the range. I would say that the supersonics kicked slightly harder compared to my 16" barrel .223.

Where did you get the stock? I've been lusting after one of those.

Recoil with subs is very mild. Brass does not get beat up at all.

I've been thinking of a .300 blackout build since I'm at an indoor range. Subsonics would be the only thing shot out of my gun. .556 is too fast.

You need a bolt gun to go with all those AR's. :D Love my 300 BLK bolt gun. ;)

Only two 300BLK AR'S, the third is the ACR you built the NR barrel for. Which by the way printed very close to an MOA group the other day with 155gr A-max bullets and A1680. I'll post some pics once I get a chance to measure the group on the target.
This new one printed a 10 shot group close to 2 MOA with a 110gr V-max load I developed for my other AR, I'm excited to see what it can do once I do some load development for it.

Dr. K -

300 blackout is for you then. Subsonics are very quiet, and should be permitted at any range with a backstop that allows center fire pistols but not rifles. Then when you have the opportunity to shoot at an outdoor range substitute 110gr supersonics and you have a real rifle equivalent to 7.62.
