I'd be interested to find out how everyone's Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifles do at the range.

My Ruger GSR is equipped with Leupold IER, and forward mounted.
2.5x magnification, I have not tried with regular scope (I haven't decided to remove a scope from another rifle - might have to buy another).

My Ruger GSR shoots like this (see picture) at 100m using Hornady 155gr Steel Match:

I know Scout rifle supposed to be 2MOA at the most - so my rifle is performing better than spec-ed, but I want it as good as my tactical SPS.
Is it a pipe dream?

That looks great. You should sell it to me. All joking aside, the Ruger Scout is something I would enjoy and it is nice to see accuracy like that.

Good to see they can shoot pretty well! I'm going to sight mine in one of these weekends using the irons if I can find some cleaning supplies for a .30 cal rifle......

Thanks, folks.

It's definitely a keeper :)
It had been a while since I last shot it.
But it does kick at the end of the range session tho.

Mine was my first rifle, but even if you gave me a laserpointer I'd still have terrible aim so I'm not a reliable example of accuracy. Even so, it would still do well enough that I'd be confident shooting it out to reasonable hunting ranges. I think I started out shooting a 12 inch group at 40 yards, and finished with a six inch group at forty yards. New high score! Ended that range day with my shoulder bruised yellow.

I'm sure I'll be in the same position as you once I get it out. It's my first .30 cal rifle as well.

Update - 20130512

I thought I'd give an update...

I got a Springfield Armory Government model scope in 6x40.
Not a great scope, but the only one I got just to compare with my Scout scope.

I had problems with sigthing the scope - after 25 rounds of Hornady Steel Match, I found that I forgot to tighten the rings to the base f:P: DOH!
So, I only had a 9 rounds left from my Federal Premium 168gr Sierra Match King (left over from my Rem 700 SPS Tactical).

The weather was cr@ppy - raining on/off. Making the target soft and got lots of rips from the shots.

I used 3 to sight it in, and 6 to shoot the target in the picture. 1 target, 3 rounds.
I made adjustment after the first target to centre the POI - I think it could use another click down.
But doesn't matter to me, the scope is not gonna stay for long.
I'm thinking of either keeping the Leupold scope or getting the VX-R 3-9.
But I don't know what I'm gonna do about the screw holes for the picatinny rail if I put a conventional scope on it.
