Too darn cold and trying to find something else to do other than reloading.

Have a few synthetics stocks that could use a new look. Tried my hands on the sponge method which I think looks pretty decent.

Let’s get a thread going for paint jobs!

Mine is nothing special, I will see how long the paint will last on the stainless barrel. Iv done 3 and 4 color camo before, looks good the the man holding it but I really doubt the moose noticed the difference.

It was a bit intimidating to start but I think it’s a good way to personalize or cover up some serious paint chip or rock rash.

I just used soapy water to clean and striped then a green scrub pad to rough up the surface. I then did the darkest colour as the base coat and just sponged on the rest. Finally a Matt acrylic enamel clear coat which you can layer on thick. Let it dry for 2 weeks so the enamel can harden properly. Took maybe a hour over two days (one for the base coat then wait 48hours, scuff with pad, then the sponge stamping and clear coat).

He picked the right guns to experiment with. Is that wood covered in spray paint? Fiberglass? 3d print? What are we looking at here?

All of the above. The silver stock is 3D printed and filled in with fibreglass for strength. The shotgun stock is the factory stock, with a lot removed and reinforced with fibreglass. The little single shot stock was nearly toast when I started. It’s reinforced with Kevlar and fibreglass.

The colour change 10/22 stock is just shortened, opened up for a 0.920 barrel, and painted fading into the wood.

Nice! I also dabble in 3D printing some needed pieces for my firearms. Love the SBR 10/22!

Couple of my attempts using a cargo net and spraying in layers. Both look darker in person.
