Show me your paint jobs!

Here is a close up to show the layered pattern of sponge stamps, just haphazardly applied until the look is to my satisfaction.

Wow! I never thought i was a fan of slings method.... you’ve changed my mind! If you wouldn’t mind elaborating in your colours, sponge type you thought worked best, and what brand of product you used it would be much appreciated! Did you clear overtop?

I’m just using camo paint from Canadian tire. Base coat with brown, then sponge with the green and tan/khaki on top. I mentioned my other steps in earlier posts.

Here’s my sponge paint job on my coyote rifle. Not a great closeup but shows the effectiveness. Need to do the bog pod legs as well.

some tips, before painting plastic, clean up the flashing, meaning clean up the parting line where the mold halves meet, and also sharp edged/corners, these areas will chip of easily if not made flush with the stock or rounded. sand with 400 grit any parts that are really smooth to give the paint something to grab onto. clean the stock with acetone or pure solvent, nothing that will leave a residue. after the solvent has dried pass a blow torch over the surface to oxidize the surface just before painting, you will notice the surface change slightly but watch it, easy to over do and does not take much to accomplish, this should increase adhesion. not saying this will work with all plastics but worked for me. i got this suggestion from an epoxy adhesive manufacturer. or you can use an adhesion promoter if you would like. paint jobs that chip and flake just look chity. have fun.

Too darn cold and trying to find something else to do other than reloading.

Have a few synthetics stocks that could use a new look. Tried my hands on the sponge method which I think looks pretty decent.

Let’s get a thread going for paint jobs!

Nice work, looks fantastic and yes I bet it beat back the boredom! What paint did you use, and where did you source it from?

First attempt around ten years ago or thereabouts using Krylon Fusion.

That thing was just crazy accurate, but was literally hard to find if you walked too far away from it in the bush.

Not kidding!
