well i ordered some 19 round mec gar magazines that I will be pinning for use in Canada (along with my american Shadow). Wondering how are they pinned? Can you guys show me how they are limited to 10 rounds?

i thought they had to be pinned before reaching the consumer?
because you would be violating the law as soon as you receive them if they were not pinned.

What are mag blocks ? How do you secure them ?

Magazineblocksdotcom. They are from commiefornia. They always fit inside the magazine either from the follower or from the baseplate. They are ridiculously consistent and easier to work with since you really can't remove the follower from a pinned mag.

Has anyone checked with RCMP if that is acceptable without permanently bonding the baseplate to the magazine? I'm assuming I'd have to expoxy to the lock plates in the magazines to be Canadian compliant?

You are right. It must be permanent (ie tools) to remove the restriction. I've welded rods on to the followers before or inside the mag body. Or easiest is to pop rivet the mag body so the follower can't go below 10.5 rounds

I emailed the RCMP tech team, they replied with no, unless you permanently attach the baseplate to the magazine casing. They care about unmodified casings. I could however use the mag blocks then just rivet the baseplate to magazine. But the +2 base adapters aren't metal but plastic. Pinning the side it is.. I'm guessing easiest way to find out where to drill would be a taken apart magazine with 10 rounds and a depth gauge or Wooden stir stick to measure location of follower ?

If the mag has a small plate under the spring above the baseplate life gets simpler.
Many mags have a hollow mag follower. Simply put a self tapping screw in the bottom of the follower. If it doesn't have a hole drill one.
A little experimentation with the screw and you can get the mag adjusted to 10.5 rds. You want a little bit of play for the 10th rd.
Then drill a small hole thru the bottom of the base plate AND the inner plate, and rivet them together.
With the two plates fastened together you can't take it apart.
If the mag doesn't have an inner plate make one from a small piece of metal.
Job done.

That's the thing. I don't remember the law stating the casing had to be modified. I believe it was the mag had to be permanently modified, ie case, follower, floor. New interpretation?
