I want to buy a garand, I love the gun, the history, the *ping*, the overall proud look. Ground rules, no ugly tacticool monstrosity's, wooden stocks only, all other accessories welcome.... Who has the ultimate garand... Game On

I don't know if anyone really has an "ultimate Garand". They're all awesome in their own way, whether it be history, condition, etc.

Here's mine:

1954 Springfield Armory. In excellent shape all around. The wood is lighter than these show.

Some crappy pics, I really should do a nice photoshoot one day and show her off in all her glory.

'42 Winchester reciever, '44 SA barrel, mostly SA parts in a Boyds stock, shoots minute-of-get-off-my-lawn
Always a fan favourite when I bring friends shooting

1944 Springfield, with a 1966 VAR barrel:

It loves 165gr SST's over 47.5gr of IMR4064. My last target for sighting in before hunting season last fall (shot off a rest, with iron sights at 100yds):

It has accounted for 2 deer so far in my hands, with hopefully many more to come.

I am working on my last build now. They are a very addictive rifle. I have bought and sold quite a few now, time to slow down and enjoy shooting the ones I kept.

Well if any of you get tired of holding that cumbersome gun , I guess I could take it off your hands for you, free of charge too. It's a very generous offer if I may say so myself.

BS I say! The garand is the original battle rifle, too good to be relegated to sitting alongside threads about ruskie milsurp crap.

To get back on topic, this thread is timed perfectly for the return of my garand from Vulcan Gun Refinishing, I should have it by Monday. I may post pics ;)
