Show Me your Truck Shotgun

Not worth it to me, I often thought about a welder friend of mine making me a rifle rack in my truck but I live in a city even if it's a small one. To many idiots might try breaking in only to find how strongly welder and locked the gun would be.

My truck comes with factory gun storage mounts, one by the drivers seat and the other by the passenger seat so they don't rattle around. As for the shotgun its usually my 12.5" Grizzly.

That almost sounds interesting and worthy of further discussion....... :)

Here's a pic of my truck. Mercedes Benz U1300L direct Ex-German Military. I don't have a pic of the factory gun holders but they are obviously necessary in this truck.

How hard is it to find a trunk like that? Price range?

Not that hard. If I was to do it again I would get one from Expedition Imports in the US. The dealer I bought mine from in Canada is crooked as hell. Mine is the more desirable long wheel base turbocharged fast axle model whic is the only one I'd consider. They can be had from Expedition Imports for 30,000$ plus shipping and taxes etc etc.

I was a Toyota guy before this and dumped lots of money into aftermarket parts to make a truck something it was never designed to be from the factory. A Unimog just makes sense, factory front and rear air lockers, shift on the fly four wheel drive, 44"x15.5" tires, 20" ground clearance below the axle, 3000 kg payload capacity. It just makes sense.

Yeah but what kind of Mileage? ;)

I was making a wise crack and I meant mpg.

But I am actually interested in the info. You have my full interest.

With the turbocharged OM366a, fast axles , 14.5R20 tires and red lines at 2600 RPM expect realistically 16 MPG wether its city or highway. Not bad for a truck that weighs 4500KG empty. It's better than my 2007 Titan.

These trucks aren't built for speed. They are made to pull and have butt loads of bottom end torque. I've pulled two dually dodges with flat tires chained together out of a muddy backyard in first gear, locked and four wheel engaged. I set idle at 1800 rpm and just dragged them out no problem.

Sorry to the OP for the unintentional hijack.
