For a bunch of us Nutz out there, the .45 cals. are just the ticket for hunting, plinking or target shooting.
There's a certain aura that seems to surround the .45 caliber rifles that get folks attention & keeps it there
a long time for most. For me at least, the .45's are an affordable way to toss big boolits at targets or game
and provide most gratifying results when I do my bit.

Any action type will do & any game from rats to elephant apply to this thread.

Here's my small batch of .45 rifles starting with my latest acquisition.

Fresh in the mail today, this Winchester Model 70 .458 WM in a Boyd's stock and tuned to perform. I mounted
my Weaver 2.5x post & crosshair scope on 'er for work in the bush as well as just plinkin'.

Recently gave this to my Son. A Marlin 1895GS in 48-70

Then, I replaced it with a Marlin 1895GBL, also in 45-70

Last but not least, a Winchester model 70 Super Express in 458WM

Dang, that's pretty! Should'a kept that one.

A good friend of mine (who has never once sold a firearm) bought it. That means I can visit whenever I want too. Truth be told though the No. 1 stock design does not work well with iron sights and big recoil. Worked well with a scope, but I wanted to use irons with such a cartridge.

Ended up getting a 500 grain DGS to 2450 fps though.

Ok I'm dying to know how you did the saddle ring conversion. Is it a custom deal? Gunsmith job? Details man, we want details!!

I made it at work, but you can buy them for about $25 stateside. It's a 10 minute job, but you do need to tap a locking screw hole deeper. The other side looks like a regular screw
