Hello all

I’m seriously on the fence about sending my rifle off for a Cerakote job.
List price is around 250-300$ for the work from a local shop

Just wondering what you folks think...is it worth the money ?
How durable is this stuff?
I’ve read it’s pretty tough.

Has anyone had any issues to mention?

Please have a vote in the poll
And please post a picture of your Cerakote job !

Cheers

J

It's your gun do what you want... but a solid workhorse that had the scars to prove it (and not drag behind a truck scars) looks and shoots the best.

Real wear on a real gun is not something you can fake.

Wear it proud.

I hear ya. Nice rifle, but rust is easy to mitigate with cleaning and proper application of oil.

I have a cerakoted (factory) bolt action. It is nice not to worry, but I would say my father's browning with its blued finish is a much nicer rifle.

I have numerous cerakoted rifles. Its durable, and you can always get it redone down the road if it starts to look rough

Great product, and the folks that make it are "top shelf" in there customer service and instruction. Well worth the money IMO. Its easier for me to count the guns that aren't Cerakoted than the ones that are :)

Here's an 870 in concrete;

I have a different problem than most with Cerakote . I do Cerakoting and gunsmithing as a hobby and I even have formal training (ex REME arms trade) some examples below.

10/22 in ATI skin sniper grey, with white and black pattern digi pattern. I was testing out stencils and the skin was on clearance sale.

The problem is when I tell people I do this in my Garage at a lot less than what professional shops charge as I do this for fun and ammo money, They don't believe me also living in the Maritimes where people are generally broke doesn't help either so I have a hard time getting enough rifles to do.

I do all my own cerakoting as well. My friends always ask why I have an oven in my garage. I just tell them incase I need to whip up a batch of cookies.
