Just picked up another excellent conditioned, all numbers matching Enfield made SMLE and thought it would make a good reason while showing everyone pictures of it to also get others to post pictures of their SMLE's as well, and yes they do still exist out there, you just have to look hard and be quick.

Anyway, here is some details of my new Enfield SMLE followed by pictures.

This appears to be a all numbers matching Enfield Small Arms Factory made in 1918, No.1 Mk.III* that was sometime post World War 1 brought back to No.1 Mk.III status with the fitting of the magazine cutoff. The bore is like new, same as the walnut stock and bluing, it would be hard to get a better example I would think, Matching 1918 dated bayonet is also in excellent shape.

Let's now see yours!

Yes that would be nice, I knew you would chime in sooner or later, and your excellent examples should make this quite a large post of SMLE pictures.

OK, I'll join in. Here's my B.S.A. 1918 MK.III*. It's all numbers matching and even has the piling swivel. Curiously, the proof stamps are struck over and the knoxform & receiver have the B.S.A. crossed rifles an inscription that reads "sale permit). I'm assuming it was made at the end of hostilities and was sold to the civilian market.

Mine are not nearly as nice as what have been posted thus far.

1918 SSA. A non matching de-sporterization job that I paid too much for. But the bore is like a mirror so it should be a great shooter.

1919 Lithgow. The numbers are all matching (rear sight has been renumbered during FTR I assume). Just got some of the furniture from Numrich today to start putting it back to a better state.

1919 Lithgow. The three numbers I can see (bolt/receiver/sight) all match. Just got some of the furniture from Numrich today to start putting it back to a better state.

Your very nice SMLE rifles look just fine to me, thanks for posting them.

Here is mine. A numbers all mixed up restored sporter. But a 1915 BSA no star nonetheless. Mag cutoff was on the rifle, but when it was FTR'd in 1944 they swapped out the drift adjustable rear sight, and got rid of the volley sights. There is now a 1913 rear sights, rear volley sight, and repro front volley sight.

I even managed to find a 1915 bayonet for it!

And here is my daughter modeling it for me.

I agree. Mine has an odd mixture of wood too, and I decided I like it just fine!

This is at 100 yds:

By the by- those aren't my vice marks, and yep- the barrel had a largish rust patch about halfway down the barrel... The whole story is at this thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1108659-My-bitser-Lithgow-No-I-Mk-III-no-star?highlight=Lithgow

Still do, and I'm hoping to refinish it this winter- it has a very high gloss finish I'm not at all partial to. Mind you, I've been saying that for a few winters now.

My one also has the same high gloss finish but has already been refinished, it looks like it was a range use rifle (stock was glass bedded) by a previous owner, shoots real nice too. I think that we have the only two 1956 made Faz non rebuilt No.4 Mk.2's that I can find any info on.

As per usual, an excellent selection you lucky bastard. If new collectors in New Zealand can't find any nice SMLE's we all now know why!
