I've got a 1987 King Cobra in .357. I finally got to use it today after getting it a few weeks ago.
I tried it in single action and all was well. Then I tried double action. It didn't fire. I opened the cylinder and saw a mark on the primer, but obviously it wasn't hard enough to fire the round. I tried all six in double action and only one fired.
Anyone have any ideas on what's wrong? Can I handle it or is a job for a gunsmith?
Thanks.

Take it apart, clean out the lock mechanism, see if that cleans it up. You may need new springs. - dan

Well, I cleaned it. Twice. It was pretty bad. I did get it to fire a bit more in double action but not constantly. I'll probably contact the store tomorrow.
What springs would you be looking at replacing?

Start with the mainspring and the trigger return spring. - dan

I replaced the trigger spring, which appears to have been the incorrect spring with one from Wilson Combat. Trigger feels MUCH better and returns consistently now.
The main spring from Wilson Combat was shorter and installing it, it felt lighter and didn't solve the problem. It was the only one I could buy. So I went back to the original and added a 1cm spring of similar appearance with it. It now fires consistently in double action.
Hopefully that is the end of my issues.
Thanks Dan.

De nada. Glad it worked out. - dan

The new blued 2024 Colt Python looks real nice but have been seeing some comments that the blueing does not look the best .
I guess no need to worry about that in our country right now !
