^That is a sweet bench for sure. Love the pocket hole construction and beefy legs. Looks bulletproof.
I have three different types, different price points.
The biggest one uses an Ikea Hammarp countertop, for which I think I paid about $300 a few years ago. The frame is 2x4s and Simpson StrongTie brackets, which are available at Home Depot and other big box stores. I think the lumber, fasteners, and brackets came to about $100.
If I were doing it again, I would likely just buy a ULine packing table with a Maple top, model H-2484. I think you can buy them for $595 and they go together really fast. The work surface is 1 3/4", that should be pretty rigid. If you factor in your time and running around, it is likely smarter just to buy the packing table.
This one is also a (smaller) Ikea Hammarp countertop, with a set of metal Busy Bee Tools legs marked "Shop Fox." The depth dimension of the legs is not totally suitable for the countertop, but it works well enough for my purposes. I think the countertop was around $200, and the leg system was around $150 on sale. Nice thing about this table is that the legs are screw-adjustable and I can totally level it out, which is required for the powder scale I use.
This table just has a 3/4" plywood work surface, and the frame is similar construction as the large workbench, above. I think it is around $120 in materials, but hopefully you have some scrap lumber around as I did.
