And a couple of levers. This Browning 71 isn't real fancy but out of the box not bad. Bought back in the good old days at Calgary WSS when I would tell 'old Ron what I wanted and he would rummage through the boxes till he found a nice one.

I had ordered a 1X semi-inletted set from Wenigs about 18 yrs ago for a '94 Marlin .375/44Mag cartridge that I was fixated on! Open up the package and it's for a '94 WCF. Told me to send it back and then this set arrives for a 1893 Marlin but it Wasn't going back when I saw the figure my $200 had bought me!!

But due to personal circumstances evolving never had the straight time over the years to see it through completion till quarantine. The .375/44 is still on hold too....006.jpg007.jpg009.jpg

Beautiful job on the wood for that ole' girl. New barrel or re-contoured & blued original?

Now that the wood is pretty much perfect, you should finish the metal work...open that bolt knob up (with hacksaw, split down thru the top to the hole and then make a cut part way thru where the bolt attaches to the handle). heat with a torch so you can open the petals up and create a "butter knife bolt" look that suits you ( not only ergonomically but opens the space up a bit between the bolt & your scope), clean up all the rough/sharp edges with a Dremmel.

Now grind the safety lobe off to 1/2 its original size (don't need all that bulk at all) and then "dome" the heavy lug of the safety where it goes into the action (Dremmel job again)...don't need all that bulk neither...
Now the bolt retaining latch on the other side needs the same "doming & bulky edges taken off, again Dremmel.
Now, after all the Dremmel treatments, grab a few sheets of super-fine emory paper/ crocus cloth, sit at the TV and finish the job... ready for a blueing tank...

Enfields were the best rifles ever built for "home customization"... you just cant hurt em & everything you do will be an improvement to their "ergonomics".
 
The barrel is recontoured blued original. The rifle came from the EE out of an estate on the east coast. I could make it a project or just enjoy it. Thanks for the write up on finishing it.

Those pictures definitely take wood stocks to another level. Ardent, is the bottom picture the m98 stock that you were going to trade off about two years ago. If it is I'm still regretting not offering something for that one. :) I got a 98 300 win that would look lovely in that stock.
 
There’s some gorgeous woods in here! Enjoying following this one!! Now only if I had a computer, I’d have a handful to add.
 
There are some absolutely beautiful stocks here.
It's just something about the perfect grain pattern with the perfect finish. A thing of beauty , makes ya wanna hug it lol
I personally like a blonde wood , satin finish with a horizontal burled tiger pattern stock
it's all personal choice
 
My Tikka T3 Forest, .260 Rem. There is more figure in the wood than what shows up in the photo. Was not expecting that and was a pleasant surprise when it showed up in the mail from Prophet River.
